Patricia Vs Judge For Play Calling Duties?

Check out link to writer Chris Cwik's most recent yahoo articles.......Jack of all trades, master of none
When he's done educating us on Patriots "coaching competitions", we can all get a tutorial from him on the WNBA, Women's Tennis sports agencies, and fantasy baseball.

I wouldnt say them failing as HCs is the concern for me, BB failed, McDaniels failed etcetc...Its really the lack of experience on that side of the ball. It would literally be like a team hiring Josh McDaniels as their DC. To me thatd be odd
BB failed because of Art Modell.

Modell never fully supported BB and sided with the fans after BB benched Clevelands fading favorite son Bernie Kosar. Modell poisoned BBs final season with news of the Browns move. No way he wanted to win a thing for the city of Cleveland after they refused to build him a new stadium.

Sort of irrelevant to this discussion, but if thats your opinion then its fine. Either way I dont think failing as a HC scares people in this situation. Im guessing people welcomed Josh back with open arms here early in the decade right? Its the other side of the ball issue that I at least would be weary of. Im sure it will work out ok, but Id think losing that much experience on 1 side of the ball wont help

Were screwed.

Joe Judges team was ranked 31st on offense for his 2 years as HC.
Matt Patricias team was ranked 18th and 25th for his 2 years at HC.
Maybe..Maybe not. Negative times a negative is a positive lol.

But in all seriousness we have no idea and there are a few reasons to think this might work. Josh was somewhat predictable after all of these years. I also have a feeling our offense for the first time in years will not be so complex and newcomers will learn much faster as a result. The whole less is more thing might ring true this season.

James White, Hoyer, and former players on the staff will probably be tasked with sharing their knowledge of how our offense ran all these years.

I’m more concerned about the coaching of the offensive line.

We’ve gone from Dante to Billy Yates. Why not bring back Popovich?

Being a DC requires a huge amount of time studying film of offensive schemes of opponents. Being a DC for 5 years and having other defensive coaching duties with the Pats for another 6 years probably won't hurt Fat Matt if he is calling offensive plays.

We really need to bring in an OCoord. BOB makes the most sense. Having a DCoord and a ST guy crafting plays is not ideal and will not do anything for the development of Mac.

Back in the day when Matty P was working offense

Fast forward to now.

I would also like to see Pop re-hired... But at least Yates has played the position he coaches at its highest level...

Phatt Matt & the Worst WRs Coach of 2019 over-seeing Mac's development, on the other had, is downright Frightening.

It's amazing how people let themselves go. He looked a lot more professional and better overall in the first photo.

True however the 1st photo was taken more then 25 years ago.

The HC experience of both guys means a lot. I'm not too concerned.

People bringing up Belichick’s time in Cleveland to justify giving these two losers a chance is so so dumb. The Browns had winning seasons! They won a playoff game! And yeah then it fell apart and Bill was out but holy god did it all go so much better than Patricia and Judge’s times as head coaches. Also by the way, Bill has always been a defensive guy. And a defensive minded head coach. There is continuity through his whole career. These guys have never been in charge of any of the offense ever except Judge’s one terrible year as receivers coach in 2019.

Go back to the Bucs board…

This is what you wrote in the Gronkaneer thread:

“I can’t speak for him but are we allowed to make fun of the absolutely comical train wreck that is the Patriots coaching staff and how I openly want it to fail because I think Matt Patricia is a loser piece of crap both on and off the field and avoiding him being Bill’s “succession plan” is my largest priority for this team going forward? If not then I don’t have much to say day to day.”

One sentence seems to contradict the other...
Not that either one could turn around the Lions or Giants, but having the overall responsibility for both the offensive and defensive game plans forces the maturation process. BB endorses them as well.

At least in Patricias sake, hes got a ton more experience on one side of the ball rather than the other. Using that example again, would you be ok with a team hiring Josh McD as a defensive Coordinator?

Didn't he start out as a defensive coach?

How is it irrelevant when you stated that BB failed as a HC. There is a reason why Dan Synder is a loser. Its obvious why Jerry Jones hasnt won a Super Bowl in 27 years.

Bad ownership = losing
Good ownership = winning

Simple formula.

There's a world of difference between being an HC and an OC/DC, and that's not even counting how the orgs are ran. Detroit and NY haven't been glowing destinations for anyone as of lately.

Not to absolve them of their bad outings. But when tossing out this point, it's only worthwhile if you include the circumstances surrounding them, as well as acknowledge that being an HC is entirely different.
