DRAFT DAY DISCUSSION Official 2022 NFL Draft Thread: Day 3

I’m not opposed to continually adding talent to the QB room as it’s the most important position, but with Mac in place that is something I wanted to see later in the draft.

With the way Hoyer played against the Chiefs the last time he started I hope that Zappe ends up the #2.

Baltimore seems to kill the draft almost every year, yet they seem unable to translate it to taking that next from being a good team to a true top tier contender, even with very good coaching.

Yeah, I mean, excellent at drafting, a top level coach, and even their QB won the MVP award a couple of years ago. Yet here's their record over the past 7 seasons:

2015: 5-11
2016: 8-8
2017: 9-7
2018: 10-6
2019: 14-2
2020: 11-5
2021: 8-9

Missed the playoffs in 4 of the last 7 seasons. For an organization with such a great front office and coaching staff. How is this possible?

I guess I would have preferred a 1-2 down NT then a backup QB. Oh well.

So the Pats were either the cut off to having someone announce the pick, or they simply didn't care too. I 100% believe it is the former. Bill is such a grump, why can't he just play ball and have someone on his staff pick a random season ticket holder to go up there and announce the pick? Why does he always need to make crap so difficult and be so damn contrarian? Let a fan have a thrill. Jeez.

This kind of stuff just annoys me. And makes him needlessly unlikable.
It’s actually one of the things I love the most about BB. Doesn’t care about the celebratory BS. Wants to get the job done. I personally wish there was zero of that other stuff and I applaud BB.

Man I don't know... a QB in the 4th?

Especially when we need more defense?

That's more than just "we need a backup". Apart of me thinks this is a RGIII - Kirk Cousins type deal.

After all, Belichick was super conservative with Mac Jones. It was Kraft's choice to get him anyway.
See my earlier post; they always spend 3-4th round picks on backup QBs every 3-4 years. Tom Brady became the starter and won the SB, and BB immediately drafts Rohan Davey. It’s just the way he operates.

Are we really thinking about bringing in all those Sixth rounders??

No I agree, let’s forget all those areas we need help at and solidify that backup QB.
Can’t solve all the areas of need with one pick. Having a good backup QB was an area of need also. Obviously team felt the needs and available answers we best in this area at this time.

Why are we not trading up and getting some impact players.

Perhaps they aren't really that good. Perhaps they spend time listening to draftnicks and picking what they say rather than trust their own internal reviews. Perhaps they made a bad decision going with a runnign qb and then trying to rebuild their entire offense to compliment that play style. Can go on and on

I hope so. As people keep pointing out there are many areas of need, so bringing in many prospects to cover those areas of need seems like a good idea.

True that's a good point. The only rebuttal I could offer would be that Tom Brady won a ring, as where Mac is rookie whose team lost in the wild card round.

My main issue with this is that it's a rather high pick in a year where have a lot of holes.

Oh well, we'll see how it turns out.

Name one player available in this draft that has impacted an NFL game?

it’s all paper impact, no assurance any one of them won‘t wash out.
