Contrary to belief. The Pats need to draft a back up QB. Hoyer is old and Stidman is all but gone. I don't see this as a bad thing.

My guess is that we will see Akiem Hicks and Trey Flowers back in Patriots uniforms once the compensatory pick rules expire in a week or two. That is where they will likely fill their d-line needs.

Thought we’d go with Carson Strong at some point. Knew QB was on the table. Idk a damn thing about Zappe.

Late reactions:

Jack Jones was not on my short list. I know we met with him a few times, but I wasn't a fan. I'd have preferred quite a few other corners if we wanted to double-dip at that position. I don't think he has the technique, size, or speed to become a top-tier player.

LOVE the Pierre Strong pick. I had him in a few of my mocks. Legit threat to take it to the house. Excellent in the open field. Perfect complement to Harris and Stevenson. Will replace White as the 3rd down back.

So happy we got Bailey Zappe! I also had him in a few of my mocks as a perfect replacement for Hoyer. Let's get Stidham off this roster. He's a good quarterback. If we didn't already have Jones, I could see him developing into a starter. I do not expect to retain him past his rookie contract. He will get starts around the league at some point in his career.

Overall, a very solid 4th round, although I'm sad to see some binkies go. I still want to see a NT and OT, but good start to the day.

The "experts" really really love to talk crap about the pats picks

but but McVay had Zappa rated as a sixth rounder. CBS B+

Well....

Zappe threw for 62 touchdowns and 5,967 yards this past season for Western Kentucky.
