OT RIP Dwayne Haskins

Schefter’s tweet was ridiculous. He should be ashamed of himself. Hopefully the explanation is he went to bed last night rip-roaring drunk.

It reminds me of when Marty Schottenheimer died, and there was a headline that said something like, "Marty Schottenheimer, Chargers coach whose teams never won the big one, dies at age X". It's like dude, there's a time and a place for negative legacy talk, and it is NEVER moments after someone dies (unless you're talking about someone like Hitler).

Adam Schefter is pretty dumb sometimes. Gil Brandt’s coments were even worse. He’s 90 but he still seems to have a good mind when on air. He really blew it yesterday too and I can see a possible suspension for both of these guys for insensitivity.

Out of touch I guess. I think all of us discuss players careers good and bad with buddies etc, but yesterday when my friend and I were texting about it we certainly weren’t mentioning his career accomplishments and failures. These two are suppose to be professionals. You don’t have to give him Kobie treatment because he was just an all time great but respect life. I remember when Marquisse Hill tragically passed and I dont remember one bad post on this board about how he played. It was all about the loss of a young man and his family.

RIP DH. Gone too soon.

As alluded to, the reporting on this has been atrocious. Huge difference between a dump truck and a "car".

RIP Dwayne. For anyone moving forward keep a safety vest in your cars if you can or some reflective clothing/reflective triangles for behind your vehicle. If it's a freeway with steady traffic do not cross it(Ideally a 10+second gap in traffic across all lanes at once to cross). Call a buddy to bring a container of gas or call the cops. May take several hours but still. Seriously you have a family to come home to. I read Dwayne was training with other Steelers QB's, surely one of them could've helped him.

As for Gil, WTF is he on about? Doesn't apply here at all.

This whole thing is tragic and is just one of those things that make no sense and never should’ve happened. I have a feeling more is going to come out about this over the next month. I feel sorry for everyone involved. My sweet Uncle had his tire blow out while delivering mail about 6 years ago. Wife was also in the car. It was about 5am. He was off the road quite a bit, car jacked up, swapping the wheels when some young woman on her way to college classes was putting on her makeup while driving, didn’t see him when she swerved off the road. Something like that impacts several generations. RIP DH.
That's chilling to me. I ended up getting a flat tire on the drive home from Baltimore to the Washington burbs and ended up in exactly the same scenario in driving rain. Just luck that I'm typing this I guess.

It's worst around principle arterials... people crossing where there is not a crosswalk. Interstates are designed to be hard to get to as a pedestrian. I saw where somebody's saying he was in his car and got out, then tried to cross? I don't know, I haven't followed it closely, that wasn't quoted in anything I saw though, though the cop was quoted saying he tried to cross.

RIP, however it happened.

NFL players including Jakobi Myers ripping Schefter calling him “a real weirdo”.

More details starting to emerge...

Something is just not adding up with this story. What are you doing walking around on a highway and not being able to notice a massive loud truck coming at you?

Drunk on his own invented sense of his own power, high on the buzz of being first and making a splash.

Pathetic.

Dude needs to detach for a few months, take a good look in the mirror.

Media needs to stop thinking what they do is so important.

No one really cares who has the story first, except those in the media.

My cousin and her husband ran out of gas on a back road in Conn and he walked to get gas, never came back, they found him dead on the side of the road hours later from getting hit, the family is still not 100% over it, just a sad chain of events.

I once broke down with four passengers just as I was heading down the Zakim Bridge leaving Boston. First thing I did was coast to as safe a spot as I could and then told told everyone to out and get on the other side of the guard rail, away from traffic. People get hit all the time in roadside incidents including first responders trained to deal with such situations by minimizing risk as much as they can. Better to be safe than sorry.

Another time me and a partner were walking along a country road and saw a car driving erratically. I told my partner to hop the fence then followed her. Dude took out four fence posts near us and kept going. Saw in the paper that the cops got him and he was drunk as a skunk.

Agreed, still having trouble wrapping my head around this. I get that there are some dire situations where you may need to cross a freeway but you would think one would check to make sure he can get across safe before crossing . And someone so athletic would not need that much time to make it across.

Occam's razor

He wasn't the fastest guy, he either miscalculated that crossing or had a blind view

The “mods” here are soooooo great at shutting down a thread with posts they don’t agree with for football reasons, but still let this conspiracy ****-talking go on about a young man that actually died? Awesome priorities.

@ashley1992 and @Ross12 , you seem like nice people and you suck at this job. Really bad at it. Don’t do it in such a personal way. Be more fair. G

@Ian , you are the best. For real.

I’m out for the fourth time. Be well my friends. I’ll be back as I always am. @Deus Irae ,keep that other side of the coin warm for me. You too, @Ring 6

Crazy stuff. I agree that there’s more to it, but I’m not sure it’ll ever come out, the one guy who knew whatbthe whole story is died this morning.

Things like this is why AAA is a great idea. One phone call, sit tight and it gets taken care of. I’ve had to use them once, throttle cable came lose and car no go pulling away from a toll booth. Luckily I was able to coast to a safe shoulder area. Phoned AAA, didn’t get out of the car until there was a tow truck parked behind me as a shield. Would recommend.

Curious to know BAC. Dude was used to avoiding DL rushers trying to catch him, eluding a dump truck should’ve been easy. It’s not like they’re hard to see. Unless he wasn’t trying to. It’s just too crazy, gotta figure anything might be behind it.
My whole family has had AAA for decades. It's worth every penny. The last time I used it my wife and I went out to dinner one cold night this past winter and when we came out my front tire was blown. I was surprised how quickly the call went and how soon help arrived.

It sounds like Haskins forgot to look before he crossed. RIP young man.
