Report: Brady tried to push Belichick out for Bill O'Brien

BB and Obie don't speak to each other anymore...

More proof positive that Wicker-sham is full of crap.

He was thrilled when he returned to the Pats. I hear there's no better cafeteria in the entire NFL than the one in Foxboro.
Yeah...heard the same. There was a good video on that 5ish years ago I believe...or was it 10.

Looks like he changed his shirt? One shirt looks darker then the other. Maybe he got it messy. Found the video…

Brady just pushed Arians out for Todd Bowles. Adds credence to the Brady tried to push BB out storyline, although BB and Arians is a weak comparison.

Did you read the book? I was disappointed he didn't unearth more obviously credible information on a variety of topics. For instance, he added very little to the Butler benching, Spygate or Deflategate. He had some juicy nuggets in there about Belichick and Mangini hating each other and nearly coming to blows at a party. He characterizes Kraft as basically putting up with Belichick because of the rings. The best part of the book was Wickersham's detailing of Brady's split with the team... Brady wanted more control of football operations and a greater contractual commitment from the team but they weren't willing to give him either. Subsequently Brady wanted out believing he could find what he wanted elsewhere. I believe this basic scenario because what Brady wanted from New England has manifested itself in Tampa Bay. Brady also has validated his belief in himself by his success in Tampa Bay, which likely emboldened him to have Arians removed as a perceived impediment.

I don't think Brady chose Bowles as the new HC for Tampa Bay. I think he agreed with it because Bowles will stay out of Brady's way as far as the offense goes. I agree he pushed Arians out. I doubt he ever thought the Krafts would seriously consider replacing Belichick. Again, I think Brady was looking for what he has now in Tampa Bay... exclusive collaboration with the OC and input over player personnel and general football operations.

Glad he's gone. Players play, coaches coach, GMs manage.

Seth Wicker-sham, Bronco fan, was excommunicated from Foxboro years ago for writing a hard hitting expose about the Patriots serving warm Gatorade to opponents.

Who are his sources?

Oh yeah, un-named sources, anonymous sources... talking about the most tight lipped franchise in pro football. He's been debunked too many times to count, he's a clown.

What is sad is that people fall for it, and use it to push an agenda.

Agreed. Bob Kraft made it very clear at the year's interview what he thinks a sustainable winning formula is - a great HC with a great QB. Kraft will protect both functions and not let them interfere if he thinks that is the success criteria. If Brady wanted to overlap and BB was hesitant, I believe Kraft asked everyone to "stay in their lanes". Right now BB and Mac are in their lanes.

Gronk, AB and Playoff Lenny all paid off for GM Brady. Reportedly during the bye week in 2020 Arians ceded to Brady's vision for the Bucs offense and they never looked back. Without Brady's input on the GM and coaching side of things in 2020, Tampa Bay doesn't win that Super Bowl.

I'll agree with you in so far as I'm not really impressed with his work either.

I do think there's enough smoke with the Guerrero situation that there was something there. Ultimately it got worked out but I believe there was resentment that lingered.

“Reporting” something made up but sorta kinda believable maybe because “there is smoke” is a load of crap.
And that’s what these guys do. Belichick and Brady were together for 20 years, so of course there was some bit of strife at some point. Taking that as “where there is smoke there is fire” to write a sensationalist article about rumor, speculation, exaggeration and innuendo and pretend it’s fact is the worst kind of journalism. But that’s the state of the industry now. Find a kernel of truth then use it as justification of wildly exaggerated stories, often made up by people with an agenda.

Sure, but Belichick simply did not have the luxury of adding players left and right through free agency. AB was never going to come back here thanks to Kraft. Fournette wasn't even available until Jacksonville stupidly released him late in the offseason. Gronk maybe comes back if Brady stays. Plus NE was in a salary cap crunch in 2020 until a lot of players opted out due to covid. Tampa was in a win now mode having done nothing in nearly 20 years. NE had the luxury of rebuilding, which is what Belichick wisely chose to do rather than putting his eggs into a 43 year old who is likely going to retire by the time he's 45.

And where do you think Brady got his "vision" for the Bucs offense from? I 'm guessing a lot of it was based off of what he was comfortable with having played in NE. So Belichick's system won it for Tampa.

Brady signed a contract to play QB for NE. He was not getting paid to be a coach or GM. QB was his role and he should stick to it. Brady lost the power struggle here in NE and he pouted and went to Tampa.

Right, but... I'm not really talking about the general state of journalism. Just regarding the Guerrero situation, which personally I don't care much about, I think even in the Tom vs Time docuseries Brady revealed enough where it was evident there was some turmoil between Brady/Guerrero and the team/Belichick. But again, I don't think it played a major role in Brady's eventual departure from the Patriots.

He's 45 now. He's not retiring. Probably not any time soon at this point. If he pushed out Arians like most think then the Bucs weren't going along with that for one more season of Brady.

I'm not getting into much of what you hit upon there because it will only get us into trouble. I'll just reiterate generally that the personnel decisions Brady had a hand in helped the Bucs win a Super Bowl.

Brady wasn't even getting paid to play QB in NE. I mean adequately paid. Not for the last few seasons anyway when he wasn't getting returns on his hometown discount either (in the way of a supporting cast).

Ok, he pouted and went to Tampa Bay, that's fine. He's so full of himself that he probably thinks he can actually do all of those things I said... QB, OC & GM. Given his success I can see why he feels that way.

I'll just ignore your other ridiculous suggestion.

I just put him on ignore. I hope everyone does. People barely responds to any of his post not about Brady anyway. Pretty useless. He does do a good job whining to mods though. Good riddance.
He shouldn’t be on this site anymore. The constant trolling and whining. Never seen an adult be as big a b*tch as he is.

Just stop. the defense gave up 17 points that game. They weren't atrocious.
Got to disagree, they were pretty bad because they couldn't get off the field. Giants were converting 3rd down after 3rd down. The time of possession was almost 2:1 in the Giants favor.

Ditto with the 1st Super Bowl. They were terrible given the amount of missed opportunities for turnovers Eli and the Giants tried to give them.

Not to mention, they both gave up TD's on the final drive knowing the game was on the line.

Of course there was turmoil between belichick and Guerrero because Guerrero was telling players to not follow the teams training program.
Belichick was right about that.
