Now that both DeSean Jackson and Odell Beckham Jr have been or are being released, if the Patriots can sign either one for a reasonable salary (maybe vet minimum?) which one would you prefer? Please enter comments discussing why your preference is the right one.

Good question. I guess I'd probably prefer Jackson for lower lockerroom risk and more speed

Both names are intriguing, but how much do they have left in the tank?

You might as well add Ruggs to that list, because the answer is NONE of the above.

a. bringing in a WR THIS late in the season is disruptive. It would take to long for them to get up to speed in this unique and complex offense. It sometimes takes most of a season for most WR to become fully functional, and that's WITH a full TC and a veteran QB..

b. There is a good reason why Jackson has been with 4 teams in 4 seasons.

c. He doesn't add anything to the team we are not getting from Aghular.

d. Beckham is a media distraction with diminishing skill and a huge contract and ego to go with it. But HE's someone I'd look closely at in the off season. NOT now.

I watched some video of OBJ, he seems completely out to lunch. Mostly he was falling down and letting the ball hit him in the head.

Aghular?

I wouldn’t want Jackson here for any reason. Think about it: a team that’s all-in and going deep into the postseason just released him. The guy is clearly a head case and not worth it at his age. He’s also a one trick pony.

I’d love to see OBJ here for a low-cost, prove it type of half-season. And if I were him, I’d wait until next year before signing a multi year deal. I suspect OBJ isn’t so great anymore, but maybe the team can find some ways to use him.

Would you rather have N’Keal Harry or Odell Beckham Jr. taking up a roster spot, hoping for a breakout? Yeah, that’s what I thought.

Yeah, I can't understand not wanting OBJ for being a head case (which in itself might be legit) and then calling for Jackson. Jackson shot his way out of a contender because he was unhappy over playing time and targets - on a team that has Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods as their top 2 WRs. He seems to care more about his own stats than winning football games.

I thought waiver order applied to OBJ... I assume you're saying DJackson was also just plain released. I'll take him in 2012.

I guess OBJ is intriguing but how does waiver order interract with this, since we did not trade for him before the release?

I’m assuming no team is going to claim OBJ from waivers to pay him $7.25million for the remainder of the season.

I don’t want OBJ. But the 7M$ salary might scare away other teams and he and BB heart each other. BB is a weird dude. Huge, huge fan. But he’s a weirdo and when he loves you…

OBJ needs to go somewhere where he can compete for a 2 or 1 spot.
So I'm thinking we should be a strong consideration if he makes it past waivers

He doesn’t want to compete for the #1 or #2 WR spot. He wants to be assured of it.

He needs that, and good production, the rest of this year to set him up for free agency at the end of the season.

He would also want to go to a playoff team. But how many playoff teams are there with no top WR?

Looking at what the Pats and Big Mac have done so far with limited WR talent I’d think he has to have a strong interest here, even without thinking about the advantage BB gives.
