OT: Zach Ertz traded to the Cards

Wow, risky playing Ertz last night vs TB...

In the NFC, it's basically Dallas, Arizona, LAR, and TB. If Ertz can return to his 2019 form, it's a big acquisition for the Cards...

Right now you can make the argument those teams are four of the five best teams in the NFL. Only the Bills seem to be in the same category in the AFC.

Ertz had a high ankle sprain early in the year last year. Missed five games and was never close to 100% when he came back.
He suffered a high ankle sprain in week6 and went on IR for 5 weeks

First 6 games
24 of 45 for 178 yards 4.0 yards/ attempt, 7.4y/rec

He actually seems to have played better after his high ankle sprain

Pretty much. Only the Bills in the AFC can hang with those great NFC powerhouses.

Big acquisition for the Cards and Kyler Murray. The two best teams in the league many be in the NFC West. Despite losing to the Cards, I still thought the Rams are the better team, but Ertz closes that gap quite a bit if he returns to his old form.

Probably would rather have Ertz than either Hunter Henry or Jonnu Smith. Or both together. With a good QB, Ertz is a beast.

It'll be interesting to see the contract he gets. He's just passing 30, but he's very, very good.

At this point, though, I'd rather have Henry and/or Jonnu simply because by the time Mac is ready to rumble, Ertz would be on the decline (typically).

I'm actually happy with who we have right now on offense, Oline aside. But if the Oline can gel, I think we've got a potent offensive attack that will be tough to stop. It's just going to take time. I think the Pat's O starts putting up 24+ point games on the regular by mid season. Hopefully we'll still be in playoff contention by then

Eagles are dumping older players. 3 plus 1st rounders next season. The rebuild has begun. Maybe Watson or Rodgers joining next season too.

Am I really going to be rooting for the AZ Cardinals in the Super Bowl this season? Not rooting for the Bills or Ravens. Hopefully the Browns will beat them but not looking that way. Browns not getting any help from the refs this season..

5 for Ertz.

6 for Gilmore.

What am I missing?
You're not missing anything, they are both injury prone right now and on the wrong side of 30. Plus everyone knows Gilmore is looking for one last big payday

Ertz is playing right now and proving he still can.

Gilmore hasn't played in a while, and no one's really sure when he's back on the field. Week 7? Week 10 (or is it 11?), when he has to?

That's the only thing I can think of.

Roseman said that they made Friday’s trade because it had become “pretty clear to us that going forward we weren’t going to be able to have” both Ertz and Dallas Goedert at tight end

Howie Roseman: I don't view us being sellers - ProFootballTalk

So, "What the hell am I supposed to do with 2 tight ends" is Roseman's excuse.

And the Pats gotta play 'em twice still. Will be a good test. A lot of respect to the Bills for what they've built up there.

Yeah, I'm not sure we'd win the division even with Brady...

For the cards great move.

i wouldn’t want him on ne. We’re rebuilding.

Ertz hasn't had a QB to throw to him in years. Jalen Hurts and post injury Carson Wentz are two mediocre at best QBs.
Jalen Hurts has looked good guy at times. He is suffering the same issue as Jones, poor Oline play/Oline injuries.
