Chiefs are trading OL Yasir Durant to the New England Patriots

I agree, from the limited action so far i would say Cajuste played solid not too spectacular, Herron as well. I think Karras,Herron,Cajuste and maybe Durant now could be the front runners for the Backup O-Line spots. Could be Ferentz as well. I haven't heard much about Sherman tbh so i do not know how he is doing so far
I thought Cajuste was more than solid. I thought he moved to the 2nd level very well, very good blocking on the move. My guess it is cunningham on the other side that may be in trouble.

He was a backup to horrible backups in The Super Bowl.

Wouldn't be surprised if this were a conditional 7th for a free tryout, and Yasmir is gone before game 1.
And you think a UDFA should be starting in the superbowl protecting Mahomes?

Did you see how bad KC's backups who played?

The Pats brought in UFA Butler when Arrington looked horrific in The Super Bowl. It happens if you think a player can do better than horrible.

No I don't think an UFA should be protecting Mahomes in The Super Bowl. But that wasn't the point of my post.

There's a battle underway between 3 or 4 guys for the last two spots, and Cunningham isn't one of those guys. He's not played nearly as well as Herron or Cajuste, from what has been reported (here and elsewhere).

I don't understand this move at all, and am looking forward to seeing how it shakes out.

seems more like a move for the interior. they need another body besides Karras, and I don't think Redmond, Ferentz et al are answers

Another wish granted. I do like this off/pre season :)

Depth at guard was one of the few remaining issues. Unfortunately BB didn't make better use of deep OL class and at the end did not hit on Sherman (as predicted) as someone who can back up the line this season. M.Martin did not step up enough it seems and Redmond is a liability although he has physicality to play NFL - will be interesting to see if they keep him in some capacity. With Andrews banged up and Karras possibly starting at center, another big body capable backing up was a need imo and im happy they addressed it so quickly - as they have done throughout this offseason.

It seems Durant fits what NE likes at the position - size, physicality, versatility. It is a bit ironic that Pats are getting reinforcements from KC although it has some logic to it - KC overreacted a bit and loaded on OL, hit on both draftees and had some depth to sell. Also Durant should fit NE offense better than KC.

ps
I think they should and will keep both Cajuste and Herron on 53

I think it is pretty good...especially compared to prior years....

Cajuste is finally starting to play well, I like Herron and now we add Durant, not too many O-lines in the league can go 9 deep. Look at KC last year as an example.

Problem is, that's nine. Most prognostications have us at eight.

This ^

They kick the tires on everyone available this time of year.

Then I don't know what you mean. replacing a cb with a udfa is one thing, putting your qb behind one in the SB is quite another. You think benching butler was a story how about mahones getting hurt as a result of him getting beat.

Impossible, the Patriots don’t cut guys they just drafted.
They have never cut a day 1 or day 2 pick their rookie seasons. Doesn’t mean they won’t if the guy is horrible, but Belichick’s been here 20 years and it hasn’t happened yet. They cut day 3 guys all the time.

I'm talking about how the player is likely a jag and this is just a quick tryout, something the team does every year at the bottom of the roster..

I don't know why you are focusing on the comment leading to that.

This guy was displaced by Thuney in KC. Seems to have carved out a spot as a nfl player. The Pats OLine depth is terrible after Karras so they needed help.

Actually, this guy was displaced by Trey Smith in KC, the same Trey Smith whom Billy & the New Minions bypassed during the draft in favor of the since-waived Billy Sherman.
