Pats broke the Colts (heavy injury report)

Let's not crow too too much over this.

The Pats once lost an ugly game to Pittsburgh with some nasty injuries, but bounced back quite nicely as the season progressed ...

Pretty sure Clark got injured after making the first down on the sideline, just after we went up 24 -20 and just before the play Manning got intercepted. He was hit very hard and knocked out of bounds ! My guess if you go back to the game and see that hit.

Its so tough to say...he's had so many perfectly legal hits through the years.

There was one in '98, another in '01. I think he had another in '02. I've probably missed one or two.

But back to my original point....would that explain the roid use? The legacy of Jack Tatum? That he needed a little outside help to try to get to the level of a Jack Tatum?

Sure, his fellow players voted him the dirtiest player in the NFL, but no one has ever hung the assassin tag on him. He's gotta feel slighted, even a little bit.
We were talking about his hit on Clark, weren't we? If you can't keep hits straight from game to game, or year to year, it sounds like you've taken too many yourself. I Rodney's never been accused of using roids.

What makes you say that? Colts practiced Monday and Tuesday, so who knows when he got the concussion. Freddy's ear is a holdover of his concussion several weeks ago. Not sure why they describe it that way, but just a week or so ago, it was "post concussion syndrome" Ugoh was a shoulder, but I think they list him now with a neck injury. It's a bunch of cat and mouse. Would be nice to know the real story, but just not possible in this day and age.

They had to come in on Monday because of the loss. As Peyton said teams tend to give guys Monday off following a win as the season progresses. It's just a carrot since all Monday is anyway is treatment and film breakdown and meetings. Tuesday is a union mandated day off. Teams don't alter that schedule unless they are practicing on a short week for a Thursday or Saturday game. Clark couldn't have gotten a concussion on Wednesday since he didn't practice, and there was no physical practice on Monday or Tuesday or there would have had to have been a report released on it.

Your logic and facts have no bearing here...please take them elsewhere

:D :D :D

Yes the Bob Sanders spearing Moss, knocked Sanders out of the game not Moss. Another call the refs did not make..

I was rewatching bits of the game as I edited out the commercials and I noticed this for the first time - Sanders standard tackle technique seems to be to lower his head and lead with the crown of his helmet. On the moss hit late in the game he actually went helmet to helmet, nailing moss in the facemask with the top of his helmet as moss was landing on the ground. hmm, wonder why sanders is injured so much:rolleyes:

Here was my thought heading into the Colts game:

The Colts defense is small and fast.
The Patriots offense is big and fast.

:rocker: :rocker: :rocker:

Right on.

The Colts released their first injury report of the week Wednesday,
with 10 players listed as not participating in practice. They were:
... defensive end Dwight Freeney (team decision),...

What the heck does that mean?

What the heck does that mean?

That means that there was no (known) physical reason why his practice had to be limited; rather, the team chose--for whatever reason (e.g., personal issues, trying to give him rest, etc.)--to limit his practice reps or give him the day off.

The Pats have listed players under team decision as well.

*crickets chirping*

Wait a second! All you heard last week is that the Pats and Colts switched roles and the Colts were the physical team and the Pats were a finesse team. Yet, it was the Colts defense that was clearly worn out and battered by the end of the game on Sunday. Now this injury report confirms that the Pats beat up the Colts pretty bad on both sides of the ball.

The fact of the matter is having a phyiscial team that is build of a lot small fast guys is a double edge sword. Yeah, they can beat on teams, but they can also get beaten up pretty good when they face another physical team. The bad news for the Colts is that they have a bunch more teams with a lot of physical players still on their schedule.

You make a fantastic point. I could see the colts defense wearing down by seasons end.

I don't know... you were talking about perfectly legal hits given by Rodney. I was just trying to think of a few. Sorry..I had to go back a few years.

I Rodney? Is that some weird take on I Claudius?

Anyways Mr. Particular, do you think Rodney relegated himself to taking a banned, performance enhancing drug with muscle cell building properties [cough HGH cough] for the purpose of measuring up to Jack Tatum?

It makes sense. He tries to play like the Assassin. He's taken some people down.. but never out, at least for very long. I could definitely see him having a sense of ...well...something missing.

Rings are great, obviously, but if you're a guy that does his damnedest to get voted as the NFL's dirtiest player..on more than one occasion...someone like that has..well..different goals than others. You know he wants the reputation as a career ender, but its never happened. Not that I know of. Correct me if I'm wrong.

He's in his 30's, he doesn't have a lot of years left. He thinks to himself...if I can just hit some sucker just a little bit harder, if I was just a little bit more powerful...well, the next step is logical.

It makes a lot more sense than taking it to recover from some unspecified injury that supposedly occured years ago.

The Colts released their first injury report of the week Wednesday,
with 10 players listed as not participating in practice. They were:

Middle linebacker Gary Brackett (hip), defensive tackle Raheem Brock
(neck), tight end Dallas Clark (concussion), offensive tackle Dan
Federkeil (concussion), defensive end Dwight Freeney (team decision),
safety Matt Giordano (hamstring), wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez
(hand), cornerback Marlin Jackson (foot), offensive guard Ryan Lilja
(team decision) and offensive tackle Tony Ugoh (neck).

Wide receiver Marvin Harrison (knee), linebacker Rocky Boiman
(shoulder), linebacker Tyjuan Hagler (neck) and linebacker Freddy
Keiaho (ear) were listed as participating on a limited basis.

not looking good for a game against the chargers....but the chragers suck so it might be even.

that's not a good sign, especially for someone so important to their offense. Hopefully that's the last concussion of his career, but once you get one, the second one comes easier.

Most of us have been saying that the Colts' depth is thin and unproven; plus the team is likely to get banged up over the long season being of the small and fast variety.

Going into the season I figured the Colts would beat us in the regular season but we worn out/beaten up by the playoff rematch.

Is there a chance that Clark got his concussion early last week, and that had a lot to do with why he was so ineffective all game? If so, that's a big deal, since Clark has had a few before this one. As much as I don't like the Colts, I don't want to see a guy's career get derailed by concussions, and that's where it looks like his is headed.

That's not Clark's first concussion? If that's true, than this isn't a good sign for him or the Colts. Someone who's already had two or more concussions has to really start worrying about the potential life impacts of getting another concussion. And, as I said the more concussions you receive, the easier it is to get another one.

On the moss hit late in the game he actually went helmet to helmet, nailing moss in the facemask with the top of his helmet as moss was landing on the ground. hmm, wonder why sanders is injured so much:rolleyes:

Yea, that's basically the majority of Sander's tackles. He times it up, and dives at you, head/shoulder first. The problem with doing this all the time (as Sanders does) is that it leaves you open to mistakes, and if you judge the hit wrong you can injure both yourself and the opponent. Sanders has some of the best timing I've seen, but when he misses, it's usually shown to have a bad outcome (usually for Sanders).

Colts = bug
Pats = windshield

Apparently, they're getting better, but still hurting. . . .

The Colts, meanwhile, continue to deal with injuries, though linebackers Rocky Boiman (shoulder) and Gary Brackett (hip) and offensive guard Ryan Lilja (team decision) returned to practice yesterday.

Tight end Dallas Clark (concussion) went through a walkthrough session but did not practice, and safety Bob Sanders took his usual day off to rest old injuries.

Defensive end Dwight Freeney (team decision) sat out a second straight day but is expected to be ready for Sunday's game. Cornerback Marlin Jackson (foot) also might play Sunday, Dungy said.

Others sitting out included receiver Marvin Harrison (knee), defensive tackle Raheem Brock (neck), linebacker Tyjuan Hagler (neck), linebacker Freddy Keiaho (ear) and offensive tackle Tony Ugoh (neck).

Cornerback Kelvin Hayden (team decision) also sat out yesterday's practice.
