Patriots Rookies Report to Training Camp today

This thread so far is altogether too hopeful, optimistic, and positive in nature.

Waiting for the inevitable posts about how:

BB stinks at drafting!
Replace McDaniels! (or coaches are terrible in general)
WRs suck!
Draft picks suck!

and assorted other skulduggery in 3...2...1...

"Three of the Patriots’ eight draft picks may not be on the field to start training camp. On Wednesday, the team placed running back Rhamondre Stevenson, linebacker Cameron McGrone, and safety Joshuah Bledsoe on the NFL’s non-football injury (NFI) list."

Yes, I am an optimist.

Growing up listening to the "Curse of the Bambino", seeing the Patriots toil in mediocrity or worse, the Celtics ignominious fall from Bird to Pitino, Bucky Dent, Bill Buckner, Tony Eason, Borque to the Avalanche, etc, etc there was a lot to condition us to be the bitter, hateful envious fan base everyone thought Boston fans were.

Yet I still couldn't stand watching our supposed "own fans" tear down the next year's teams despite that track record. The next year was the ONLY hope we had as fans for many years. It wasn't much, but that unknown was a glimmer.

Now there has been unprecedented success over the span of the "oughts" across all of the region teams - and weirdly, the result is much the same as when there wasn't much success to have hope from - there are a vocal few that are only interested in tearing down and denigrating. Of responding to any positivity with memes of discontent.

There's enough negativity to consume across whatever medium you desire to bring one's spirit low. I prefer not to bring the same to the sport teams that remain one of the few respites from the everyday grind.

I'm looking forward to the next season of the NE Patriots.

Oklahoma has been churning out some good players.

Stevenson is on the NFI list. Might contract the Foxboro Flu, which of course does not actually exist.

With what looks like a solid draft class, a long offseason to heal from injuries and what looks like some very decent signings, there is every reason for optimism..
Essentially every season, essentially every team in the NFL can make that same claim. It's meaningless. So why bother making it?

Every year, teams have drafts and can hype it up until at least training camp. Every offseason is an opportunity for every team to heal from injuries. Every offseason is "a new year" for every team.

Ahh, yes...

... The team that wins every offseason.

Yeah, they are the perfect example of what I mean. We spent the better part of two decades mocking them for that. Here, after just one down year, we've got posters now doing the same thing they do.

Why bother responding to a post that you claim is meaningless?? I believe that this draft class is better than most of the recent draft classes..

WTF is Stevenson's problem?

Considering how low Bill has set the bar there, that is a distinct possibility.

I’m still in shock the Pats took Mac Jones. They so badly needed that QB of the future, and they actually got him. I audibly screamed in happiness when they took him. I think he’s gonna be a really good NFL QB, and I’m excited to watch him and the other rookies (and 2nd year guys) in the preseason. Living in NY, I’m so thrilled all 3 Patriot’s preseason games will be on the NFL Network. Typically I don’t get to watch them. I usually see them like 2 in the morning 2 or 3 days later on the NFL Network. 3 weeks from tonight we get to see the Pats play ball. So psyched.
