cam needs to be cut, the guy can't even run a normal offense. we're not expecting an over the hill qb with an injury history to run the wildcat?
Outside of the first couple games of the season he didn't really run that well. He lumbers and basically slams into people now. Can't imagine that is a lasting strategy.

Keep in mind Mills spent most of his career in Jim Schwartz’ aggressive scheme that leaves corners without much help. Basically the opposite of CB2s here.
Great observation. That has been the Pats' philosophy for the past 10-12 years - one elite man CB and one versatile CB2 (usually more aggressive/disruptor or taller CB) with good cover safeties in the same vein (some true coverage guys others more route/timing disruptors). Gives Mr Gilmore a little more leverage in his holdout though as he's the only elite "island" guy they have.

What could have been- Birds career gets extended, how many more titles would they have won? 3?4? More?

The Celtics would have been going up against the Bad Boy Pistons and then the Bulls Death Machine so this is pretty optimistic.

Are you serious? Bias wouldve been right there with MJ in a few years as the best player in the nba. Did you watch him play?
I live in NC in MJ's hometown so people here are biased BUT everyone I know here says Bias was handsdown the best player in the acc-including MJ.
Bird/Chief/McHale/Bias. Nobody beats that. Not Detroit. Not Chicago

Add Reggie Lewis.....

I've been a Cam defender (Tom House said he had an injured throwing foot last year) but this will be a real bad look if Cam keeps sailing wide open throws in camp while the new rookie comes and throws on-time and for 70% completion every day....

.

The Pistons only became champions due to the decline of the Celtics and Lakers. It wasn't that they were a great team. It was that the great teams were aging out and/or fading due to injuries. So it's not really an issue of optimism. It's more an issue of just assuming Bias was what people thought he might be. Just think about the possibilities of the Celtics having Bias in 88-89, when Bird missed most of the season. That's a season that could have been a Celtics title.

It’s becoming increasingly likely that Cam is gonna be starting week 1 and I’ve never felt so disgusted as a fan.
That didn't age well. It took a whole practice.

But really it is clear that a lot of you, however die hard you may be, honestly know very little about player development and team building as a whole.

Just because coaches project a player to be a starter at a position does not mean they force him into it. The coaches job is to prepare the player, bring him along and put him in when he is ready. That goes for just about any level in any sport. But given the violent nature of football and the propensity for injury, it is something any youth, middle and high school coach worth a damn understands.

And seriously getting worked up over the 2nd day of mini-camp is pointless. Let's see what happens when the pads go on. Plenty of guys who look like Tarzan in shorts and play like Jane in pads.

Right now it looks like Mac is on a solid course with a legit shot at being the starter day 1, is that what's best for the team? I'm not so sure. But I'll leave that up to BB and Josh.

aliens say the same thing about our entire planet.
Thats better than them saying" ..wonder if theyre good to eat"
Ahhhh, that reminds me of that classic Twilight Zone Episode that is rerun so often. Aliens come to Earth and say they want to help humanity and share technology, and they proceed to eliminate hunger and disease. Language experts manage to translate the title of the Alien's Handbook, it is "To Serve Man", they think "well, that sounds promising" and more and more humans are transported to the alien's planet ostensibly to learn new technologies. They translate a bit more of the Handbook and realize it is a cookbook. ;)

Any news on Stidham?
I think we could go Jones Stidham Hoyer, and IR Newton with dignity?
Newton's legs still work. Unless Mac just crushes it, I don't see any reason why not to have a package for Cam. Mix him in and keep the defense on its toes. Especially given what our power run game should be. Could be a lethal, transformable offense.

Cut Hoyer and bring him on as a coach. And if needed fire him and sign him as a backup if the need arises. New version of the shadow roster. And watching the rest if the NFL go nuts would be a bonus, given that the situation probably means our season may not be in a good place at that point.

I’m just happy to hear Mac is doing well. Eventually he will be the Pat’s starter, but I think we get one more year of Cam, with a few appearances by Mac during the season. I didn’t want the Pats to resign Cam, but now that he’s here, he will get one more chance. The offensive weapons are better than last year, no more excuses. If he doesn’t succeed, he’s gotta go.

Defense should be better too. If Cam can get the Pats 10 or 11 wins, it helps him get a good contract with his next team, next year.

Absolutely. I am thinking they need at least 4 TEs on the roster and all 4 need to be better than a JAG. Hopefully Asiasi keeps it up. Keene, who knows - he's kind of a differently build and seems further away. Maybe LaCosse actually is kept? Not sure if he's really more than a JAG though...
Thinking Keene will be an H back moving around. I think him and Jacob maybe battling for a spot.

I am a longtime BB defender but if these accuracy issue continue, and I have no reason to believe that they won’t, and he stubbornly starts Cam again, my confidence in his sanity and competence will start to waver for the first time. I can’t watch second half of 2020 Cam again. I can’t. I won’t.

What have you seen from, or heard about, Newton that gives you any confidence about his ability to be an NFL starting QB in 2021?

Or Cam has something on Bill or Kraft. Only logical explanation.
