Bruins Playoff Discussion Thread

Hockey is so damn hard to win consistently. Especially Stanley cups. How many times do we see a Presidents Cup trophy team win the whole thing? It’s getting rare. Playoffs are the worst gauntlet of the 4 major sports Tired of seeing lower seeds getting hot down the stretch, used to be cool but its way to common in hockey where the 5th seed or lower do major damage.

Problem is the Bruins have only been able to pull one out of their ass with so many good teams over the years. Pretty frustrating as a fan. I bs you not, if the Bruins win the presidents cup next season I feel like they have a 20% to go all the way with the way this format is. Just too many teams in the playoffs and too many teams in the league overall. Btw the league shape up divisions was a laughable joke,

To play devil's advocate, I prefer this 1000 times out of a 1000 to the NBA, where the top seeds win 90% of the time. Much like the NFL, in hockey at least you know if your team gets into the dance there's a reason for you to watch them there.

Lamoriello always builds a 4 line roster. When it's time and the system is locked in he'll bring in some goal scorers.

Hes been doing it for 25 years. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.
He has one sitting, Oliver Wallstrom was taken 11th in the first round a few years ago, but he went to BU for a year, and still has work to do defensively to get out there full time, but he’s a pure goal scorer who they compared to Ovechkin coming out.

Fingers crossed they go back to the regular format. The Canadians have no business being in the playoffs. I'll be shocked if they don't lose to Vegas or the AVS in 5 games.

The Canadians have Carey Price, which makes them a Cup contender every year. He can singlhandedly win it for them.

You put Price in net for the Bruins over the last 9 years, and they win at least 2 or 3 cups.

Oh my good god there are still Tukka defenders going around. Still. Please get this guy out of this freaking city already I cannot handle this anymore.

This freaking player has taken on the aura of some organized religion where no one can question him or else their entire world view falls apart. It’s absolutely insane for a dude who has won you NOTHING.

What’s that expression, if you’re in a room with 3 other people and they’re all as.sholes it’s probably you who is the as.shole? Tukka has disappointed for a straight decade but every single time we’re told “well it’s not actually his fault.”

This team reminds me so much of the late 70's - 80's Red Sox. Loaded with talent, way underachieving. A core of good if not great players. Just blow it up already and start over. Jacobs on down.

If only Jacobs would sell the team to Bob Kraft............

NFL owners are not allowed to own franschises in other leagues. They don't want divided loyalties or attention. In the past that wasn't the case. Jack Kent Cooke comes to mind. I forget when it changed.

The Bruins' defense was devastated, the young defenders didn't step up enough, the best players on the team made huge misses on shots, Rask was hurt, and the same problems this team has had since the Julien days came back to bite them in the ass (long stretches of really lousy stick and pass play, too much willingness to allow the opposing offense to move into the zone, etc...). Some of that is fixable, some of that is not, and some of it is inexcusable.
Pretty accurate

That's what puzzles me the most and how he stays relevant after going to that well over and over for almost 20 years. I guess it's more of a testament to the New England sports market more than anything and quite pathetic actually.

Sports journalism is kind of a big ol joke, and when you only present one guy, a two, as your only people who do coverage, it's rare they'll be uprooted for anything less than a big scandal.

Also, sports in general - a hypercompetitive consumer base, by nature of the entertainment, which hinges itself on contentious debate - is prone to letting folks in who stoke the flames quite a bit.

I wanted to go into sports journalism. I genuinely thought there was so much to cover, from humanizing the players to the nitty gritty of coaching philosophy. I wanted to cover everything on the spectrum: the dark side in form of CTE or the brutal schedule and pain of professional wrestling, to the teary-eye feel goods of players who've been uplifting in their communities, and speak to those communities to... Well, I'm getting tangential, but you get the point.

But let's be real, unfortunately, that coverage is niche and not mainstream in terms of demand. Or that's how it's presented, at least. Pisses me off. Furthermore, I also became aware that it is notoriously difficult to get a peep out of anyone in sports, so you're kinda up ****'s creek in that regard.

The Pegulas own the Sabres

Pretty sure the NFL ditched that rule like 3-4 years ago.

Doesn't the owner of the Rams also own the Nuggets and the Avalanche?

Does the MLS not count?

I'd pass on Krejci unless it's a team friendly deal. I barely notice him. I'd overpay slightly for Hall but not much. Id like Reilly back for the right price. I'm on the fence about Rask. Clearly has a hard ceiling and limit in terms of instincts & athleticism but he's a good goalie. That position is nuts.

Grizzy had a rough night and doesn't belong on the 1st line. He'd be nice on the 2nd, really good in the 3rd but this team has 0 depth or real talent there so he's pushed up.
i agree and think Krejci is grossly overrated. I would like Hall back because i think another year with us where he is comfortable not being THE guy would be great. He didn't do much in the NY series and i expected him to be better

Man Bun sucks again.
What’s that Q? You sucking something?

Shouldn’t you be out chasing Jewish space lasers with your subordinate Q’s?

They did and I didn't hear about it.
