Bye, bye Byrdie...

I think Cam hurt the receiver more than the receiver hurt Cam. I liked Byrd. I would take Byrd over Harry everyday of the week
Cutting Harry and keeping Byrd would have been admitting a colosal mistake.

No reason whatsoever why Byrd could not have been re-signed...Injuries happen...One-year-wonder production can regress to the mean...

Byrd should've been more valuable to us than he will be to da Bears...

And this WR room is still Not PO-Worthy.

I like Cam...

...but that is one brutal stat.
I have already succumbed. The idea that Cam will almost certainly be our starter (likely through most or even the entire season) is the anchor on my 2021 enthusiasm.

I liked him too, but I'm guessing the team views him as a WR3/4 and that a cheap player already on the roster can fill that slot. Agholor, Meyers and Bourne are, currently, your top 3. After that, it's up for debate who your WR4 and WR5 (assuming they go that deep at WR) are...

Harry? If the team doesn't trade him before TC, I think they'll give him an honest shot to improve. If they don't see enough, I figure they'll flip him to the Texans for a lower round pick. Better than cutting him outright.

Gunner? I think he's a near lock to make the roster just because he's a good PR and probably the Edelman heir apparent. Plus he can play DB in a pinch (probably).

Nixon? Seems unlikely since he was a 7th rounder, but he is known for "getting open" and has speed (4.44 forty) and a decent 3-cone.

Zuber? I'm biased since he was my '20 binkie, but I would love to see him make the team. Has great size and shows really good body control in his college tape. Had a couple nice end-around plays last year.

Wilkerson? He spent a year on the PS and seems to have the physical makeup to be a good reserve WR. IIRC, he was at the Stidham-led Patriots passing camp and looked pretty jacked.

At the end of the day, they probably figure even if none of Harry, Zuber, Nixon or Wilkerson step up, Gunner is probably "good enough" to be the 4th WR. I really doubt they run many plays with more than 3 WRs anyway... you figure most plays will only have 2 WRs, honestly.

We'll carry 4 WR's plus our returner (with 1 inactive, likely Harry). As far as most plays, I'm not sure that most plays will include 2 WR's or more. Given our TE's and White, we won't have 3 WR's on the field all that often. I can see lots of plays with only 1 WR, 2 TE's, and 2 RB/FB's.

It's either this, or discuss BB's marital status or Aaron Rodgers's sexual orientation.

Gotta do something till training camp starts...
Somehow I didn't predict the whole communism vs. capitalism thing erupting.

So? We still need more bodies in the WR room; and why not add one with speed, multi-year experience with our current starting QB, and production in the Most Difficult Offense in the League to learn?

Greg Bedard, in his last podcast, said he had heard that Isaiah Zuber is “loved” by some “in the building”. That would not surprise me at all if it was the case. To me, Zuber is a faster, quicker version of Jakobi Meyers, and I expect him to have a similar impact this season to what Meyers contributed last season.

Young players can be get better and develop into good players. You’ll see further development from Meyers and Olszewski as well. If those guys stay healthy, the Patriots receiver group will be significantly improved and be a good group.

I think 700+ yards is a lot to expect of Zuber, but I could see him progressing this year to something like Meyers in 2019.

I don’t expect 700 yards either for no other reason than the receiver group as a whole will be much better in 2021 than 2020. Meyers was about the only receiver after Edelman was lost to injury that could consistently get open. That won’t the case this year with the 2 free agent TEs and 2 FA WRs signed,
