Still No # 1WR

4 active receivers
Nelson
Bourne
Myers
Harry
Did Gunner make the team? If he is active, he's the #4 (emergency receiver), and one on your list isn't active.

We drafted Nkeal Harry as our WR 1.

The guy taken before Deebo, AJ, and Metcalf. Drafted over that collection of talent means he should become a multiple time all pro.

Why would Harry be active, never mind getting significant reps?

We have 2-3 of Agholor, Bourne, Henry, and Smith out there on almost every play. Our next off the bench is Myers. We have White (or another RB) on passing downs. That's 6 targets. That doesn't count an receiving chances for other RB's, FB, or 3rd TE.

Our punt returner will be active as our emergency receiver.

I don't think that Harry would be active unless he moves ahead of Myers on the depth chart.

Agree with all of this. But I really think Meyers is underrated and ahead of Bourne and maybe even Agholor too. He has excellent hands. Knows how to get open and run good routes. 3rd down dependable. 3down player. Can play both slot and outside. 750 yards in 11 games is excellent and no fluke, playing with a bad QB and the focus of defenses when other teammates were bad. He's already done more than Bourne has. I would peg Meyers as the #2 with a personal belief that he's our best WR even over Agholor. I would argue Bourne is the guy off the bench.

I have a strange feeling that defenses will sleep on Harry and with a better qb and better passer he might take off.

I am silently optimistic. It's a well rounded team.

For all we know, cam could morph into MVP cam as everyone is doubting him and has this huge chip on his shoulder..

What's your reasoning for this optimism? Do you have some new intel or a source informing you that he had his concrete feet replaced with real human ones? Dude looks like he's dragging a weight sled on every play.

how many times have we had a true no1 WR on the team. Not many. It's not as important as people think. We have speed with Agholor, bourne and Meyers are dependable. Two great TEs and White out of the backfield. I think we are going to be ok.

I am fine with a balanced production between Agholor,Bourne,Harry and Meyers. Additionally 2 TEs cooperating with a patient and accurate Jones and strong running game would guarantee success.

Gunner is the PR/KR

The OP is right.

NE needs to address WR. The Patriots have never been a team that comes out every week in the same offense or defense.

What defensive coordinator is going to be tormented by bad dreams of the NE WRs torching his defense?

None unless hes been smoking some real good weed laced with PCP.

I haven't completely ruled out N'keal Harry yet, and maintain a fools hope that he'll turn it around. If I remember correctly Michael Irvin was injury prone and sucked for the first 3 years of his career and the Cowboys tried to trade him, before he put it all together and became a HOF'er.

The odds are against him, but it would definitely help him if he was used in a way that played to his strengths, ie outside routes, jump balls, contested catches, rather than how he's been used to this point, trying to run routes that are require precise timing and footwork and going across the middle. It's like they drafted him to do the things he was worst at

So now it’s not a WR1, its a “dynamic” WR?
2020 Sanders, Marquise Brown, 2020 Hilton, Landry and Claypool are not WR1s. How many of those teams will have two top 5-7 TEs this year, along with a top 5 running game?

I think we will look to trade for a WR still unless Harry improves in his 3rd year in preseason camp which I wouldn't rule out. Even if it stands right now, our receiving options are not terrible. Meyers, Bourne and Agholor all look like 600-700 yard receivers. There is no true WR1 but when you combine it with the TEs it's not bad.

I see us next year signing a big time FA WR with some vet contracts coming off the books. This year a trade might happen but I don't think it's badly needed.

Good point

Thats why those teams lost.

TBH i doubt that is the sole specific reason that those teams lost. If Agholor reproduces last seasons for i think that qualifies as a dynamic WR.
A true WR1 isn't a necessity we have won consistently most years without one. Our pass catchers compared to last year are massively improved with Agholor, Bourne, Henry and jonnu added to the existing Meyer leaving Hrry ()if he stays) as WR4 which is about right. thats not a bad group at all

For cap reasons only, the Falcons are looking to dump Julio. Maybe a 3rd round pick would do it. He's getting up there in age but he's still a complete stud
You gotta believe that BB has some sort of strategy along these lines, i.e. a trade for veteran. The Patriots seem stacked, except for WR

If you’re planning on transitioning to a new qb, it may be wise to wait until that transition is done to most effectively spend $$ on a WR that is more compatible.

not saying that’s what they’re doing but it does sound pretty snappy
