because if Jimmy gets cut, his salary is going to be MUCH MUCH less than 25million. look at what Trubisky got.

I think jimmy is a possibility even if the patriots trade up honestly. They may want to develop someone like fields more than a year. And I dont think they are sold on Cam newton. heck, they tried to bring in Alex Smith
which is my point, SF will cut him rather than taking the chance on wasting another 25 mill of cap room that could go to paying for extensions or FA.

im a network engineer not a salary cap analyst i have less than 0 idea
no one here is a salary cap analyst, but Miguel. However I would think someone with 5000 posts on this board to have more than a rudimentary knowledge of cap issues. Whether you are a plumber or a network engineer after 5 years here I would think you would have acquired that through osmosis.

Unfortunately yes.

He comes complete with his own whirlpool tub, stationary bike, crutches and soft leg cast.

Pats should give Jimmy a gift subscription to TB12 if they sign him. That will cover the injury concerns.

The Goroppolo thing is gonna happen, one way or another. This year or next.

Imagine this; 3 extra years of Brady, one more Lombardi, one Bradyless year and back to transition plan-A with Jimmy G.

God loves the NE Patriots. The more Goodell and his goons mess with us, the more we build good karma.

nope you thought wrong

i do not give a **** enough about it to learn about it

I prefer the trade plus drafting a QB in the first round.
I am of the same mindset. Garrapolo, when he’s on the field, is a very good QB, but he hasn’t proven he can stay on the field. And no
Matter who they take at QB in the draft it’s a crap shoot. Trade for Garrapolo and draft a QB in the first two rounds.

Ship has sailed and we are MILES away.... No turning back....

Give a 5th to Niners for Jimmy G and draft a QB in the 2nd round!

I think this is an ideal balance between addressing the situation but not overpaying or getting desperate. I'd even give up a little more for Jimmy if need be. When healthy, Jimmy should continue his success as a starter - in case of injury you have Cam who almost led last year's team to a winning record and would keep a winning record with this year's team while filling in. One of the better backups you could have. Then you have a developmental like Mond / Mills / Trask who has a decent shot at being our guy a couple years down the road if JG is still having durability issues.

We don't have many other needs for this year, but we may have several pressing needs next year if the following expensive re-signs arent completed or people retire - FS, CB1, CB2, LT, RT. LB therefore I wouldn't give up too many high picks on a QB. If Fields or Lance is available somewhere around 10, then I'd consider changing the approach.

Welp, there are only two things that worry me about Garoppohno, his injury history and his injury future. Okay, three, if you include the ongoing effects of his injuries at the moment of his signing.

So I guess Cam is cheap insurance, but then that's insurance you need insurance for. By the way, Cam comes with pretty much the same worries, except they're more like hopes that he won't be affected vs. evidence that he will be.

Shoot me for it, but I've had it with "hope for the best" strategies regarding QB health. Now naturally I assume that the smaht people in Foxboro know more about this than me, except the Pats made him leave :D (Guerero joke there). Okay I kid I kid. Maybe we'll get him and maybe he will suddenly be bullet-proof.
