I loved Welker. What a great player, and it’s really crappy to reduce his career to two plays. He had a monster game in SB42 and Brady didn’t see him on a few plays that would have been game changing.

That said, the drop in SB46 - my least favorite game ever - was 99% on him and not Brady.

I can't believe people try to blame him for the loss in 2012 to Baltimore because he dropped a 10-yard pass for a first down. This stuff happens all the time and is so minor in the grand scheme of things. The team played like garbage in the second half and were totally manhandled by the Ravens. To blame that game on a "momentum killer" is ridiculous. The Patriots were not the better team that day, not evev close. It's like Sammy Baugh said about whether or not the game would have been different if the Redskins had scored on their first drive: "Sure - it would have been 73-7." LoL

I think there will be a dichotomy between those who love rings and clutch performers in the biggest moments (6 rings) versus stats and the 2007 Pats fake-undefeated team. The apologists love to give stats on 2007 or catches or any other stat that is MEANINGLESS. Point is, there are championship type guys and those who aren't. Pats have only won 6 rings when the following has happened: ELITE CB, great SS, solid TE play, Great Game-Manager QB, an offense which moves the ball but NO star, and a deep roster. This is the BB playbook.

Exactly. I’ve seen some AMAAAZZZING catches in my lifetime, but that one cannot be simulated. Not only the catch, but the timing, game, stakes, 3/4 defenders, commotion etc etc...Jules, man.

It was a routine catch. Welker swung his legs out when lunging for a second attempt after the ball bounced off his closed hands. The angle in realtime makes it seem like the pass caused him to whip around, but it didn’t. I’ve posted a lot of gifs about this but don’t have them handy.

And that double clutch release and regrab of the ball literally a couple of inches off the turf was just icing the cake.

Giants D-line were like doberman pinschers mauling Patriots O-line throughout the game.

But, you have to tip-hat to Welkers' careers with Patriots. The number of head hits in the middle of the field takes a toll...

I'm surprised Harbaugh didn't at least ask for a measurement before accepting the penalty. The Patriots didn't come back to win the game, but this extended their life just a little bit. A turnover and downs brings puts into the near-impossible range for a comeback.

Not to take anything away from Edelman's awesome effort.

1. They had no challenges left as they used 2d one on the 2pt conversion negative call.
2. You can't challenge to remove a penalty, they would have had to decline and that wouldn't change the on field decision because of 1.
