If We Pick At 15

My list of positional players if they dont draft a qb in round 1.

Waddle
D.Smith
Horn
Slater
Parsons
Collins with a trade back
Pitts ultimate long shot or trade up. Same for Sewell
E. Moore with a trade back

this is a great list! I am 100 percent in agreement.

Can we all agree we aren’t winning championships until we have r a championship caliber qb? Can we all agree the only goal is winning championships?
Once again you keep saying this like it is 100% fact despite being given examples where it crap. No I do not agree that only championship caliber QBs win rings, Dilfer, the 2015 corpse of Payton Manning, Eli, Namath, Thiesmann, Jeff Hostleter (I had to go google that one) Need I continue? Now is that the BEST way to win a ring? Hell no it’s a shot in the dark you need everything to go right you better have one hell of a defense way but it is POSSIBLE And a better chance then giving up 2-3 first round picks for a 50/50 shot at a franchise QB.

There was a question asked earlier that I think you twisted to deliberately misunderstand it in your answer. Assume hell freezes over and Cam has a respectable season with no Covid, better weapons, actual training camp, a healthier year, and a year 2 in the system jump of understanding his role in the offense, say 3800 yards 20 TDS and 10 INTs. The patriots ride a great running game, solid STs, with an opportunistic defense and win a lot of 20-17 type games enough to go to the Super Bowl, what’s your reaction? The way you talk about Cam I think you would be bummed. Now do I think all of that is going to happen? No, no I do not but I do think the odds of it are higher then zero which is all I ever ask from my favorite team and I am actively rooting for them to beat those odds, which I would put at maybe 5% of all that going right. Before 2001 most people would have put their odds around zero so crazy things ARE possible and that’s all I am saying. Your constant Cam negativity, must trade the farm mentality is just plain wrong and I really wish you would phrase it less annoyingly.

I think you pay too much attention to sports talk radio. I put it on once in a while but I almost always turn it right off. The latest incident came early this morning. Let me tell you about it.

The host of the show, a show dedicated to sports, was incredulous that the record for rebounds in a game is held by Wilt at 55 from November (Ididn't catch what year) and that he broke the previous record that was established by Russell as 51 in February of that year. Unfortunately for this dumbass, because it was the same year he thought it was the same season 9 months later.

The guy was also going off about the fact that 55 rebounds is almost one a minute but then realized that it's actually more than 1 a minute. Apparently he didn't know that at the time players were awarded rebounds for missed foul shots. This is a guy who's making a living talking sports and I was listening. I couldn't wait to turn it off.

Actually I do not, but what I do hear is usually laced with half baked conspiracy theories.. my interest will go up around the draft to I can hear what an "idiot" BB is, again when there are OTA's, during TC (even though Mrs. B has departed) and on Sunday AM and Monday all day during the season.

What really irks me is when Bertram spouts some half wit conspiracy theory about the Pats, and Zolak walks out of the room. Zolak knows more about this team than any other sports radio personality and many times is silent, which only goes to show that they try to breed controversy rather than intelligent discussion.

I miss the good old days and I'm sure that you do also.

Playmakers on defense are what I would target at #15. Edge rusher. Cornerback. Linebacker.

Teams are locked in QB-QB-QB for first 3 picks. Then a TE (Pitts), OT (Sewell), and 2 WR (Chase, Smith). This will push elite defenders to our range.

I don't see a DT worth pick #15, though I do like Barmore. If either Surtain or Horn are slipping to us, I would even be in favor of trading up a few spots to #11/#12 to get a lockdown corner. Gilmore might sign an extension, but this is his 3rd contract. JC Jackson is an RFA and that is only a one-year commitment. If both the healthy/elite corners are gone, I wouldn't reach for Farley given his back surgery, then I would pick a pass rusher.

I don't see a spot for a pass rusher. We just signed Judon to a huge contract and re-signed Van Noy. Hightower is back, and we drafted Uche and Jennings to go along with Winovich. I'd like whoever we pick at 15 to come in right away and contribute but I don't see a path to do that at edge rusher.

I can see a CB or WR in the 1st personally, with QB an outside shot if one falls within range of. a trade up. I have my eye on Jaycee Horn and Rashod Bateman, but it now seems Horn is probably gone by 15.

Though I am excited about Hightower, Judon, and Van Noy. And I think that drafting a replacement for Hightower in the middle is a great idea either Parsons or Collins. I really think that a DE edge rusher like Chandler Jones or Trey Flowers more in the 285 pound range would be a great idea.

Last year we had Deatrich Wise (returning) and John Simon (still available) at this position and tried Winovich a bit, but he was undersized though he is trying to get to a playing weight of 260 as leaked by the STM event he participated in.

It might be that the value in this year's draft isn't there for DT or DE this early. Late 1st/Early 2nd, I do like Basham - Wake Forest, though I am not sure we are allowed to have two "Boogie(s)" on the team at the same time.

They're trying to irk people, and to make people think they know better than the hosts.

That is what lights up the lines and gets people posting on message boards. Felger gets more ink than Reiss on social media, and it's not because he knows more about the Pats.

85% of radio in every major market is owned the three corporations. Their formulas amount to, as follows: anger lights up the same parts of the brain as porn, and is just as addictive.

The manufactured drama and half-baked conspiracy theories and outrageously bad takes are part of the game. And the game works.

I'd like whoever we pick at 15 to come in right away and contribute
With the personnel that we have, there is not a lot of rookies that are going to be able to come in and contribute right away. Our depth is really good all across the board. The exception might be one of the top 3 wr's in the draft (but I doubt they are available at 15), a cb and obviously qb.

I think with the talent we have on the team, the hope would be that we trade up and pick our future stud qb.

San Fran being the other team.

I didn’t twist anything. It is a totally moronic question to ask if I would be disappointed if newton played well.
But I see virtually no chance of that happening because he hasn’t shown he is capable of that. It’s not just bouncing passes, or not seeing open receivers, or almost never using his mobility to escape the rush and pick up a first down, it’s also very apparent he has no real awareness in the pocket. We might as well say what if we draft a guy in the 7th round and he wins the job and is great or what if stidham takes over and has an mvp year.

It boggles my mind that anyone who roots for this team and watched newton play last year isn’t angry that we are going to lose another season because of his play.

What shouldn't boggles anyone's mind is that you have zero ability to consider that you might be just a tiny bit wrong.

If Newton plays the entire season, fans will be irate and Kraft will lose fans.

You are still avoiding the question. Cam has the acceptable not great season I laid out. Yes or no are you happy?

Can you direct me the post where I said that? Can you direct me to any posts where I have ever said everything I say is 100% correct?

And we go to the SB? I am thrilled. I am jumping up and down happy.
The reason I can’t stand newton as the QB is because I see zero % chance of that happening.
I am rooting for the patriots to succeed.
Newton in my opinion greatly impedes that chance so therefore I am rooting for the patriots to get better at QB.
I don’t understand why you think this is different than any other fan wanting to upgrade any other weakness.

I’ll put it this way. On the scale of starting QBs newton is about the same as Nkeal Harry on the scale of WRs. Are you saying that people who want the team to improve at WR would not be happy if we won the Sb with Harry having a good season? Are you arguing with people that they should stop calling for an upgrade at WR and just hope Harry magically gets better?

No I am saying there is only so much you can reasonably expect to upgrade and it’s impossible to have all pros at every position. That means there will be weaknesses on any roster. I am not a fan of Cam or Harry and would love for both to be upgraded but right now they are on the roster thus I am rooting for career years from both.

Well of course if we are stick with him you root for him to play over his head. My point is that we aren’t stuck with him yet.
It’s not having all pros at every position it’s being brutally bad at the most important position. The draft gives us the best opportunity to fix that gaping hole, and I’m not sure how me wanting to do so would cause you to think I would root against the team because I recognize one of their players sucks.

The fool just picks fights with everyone on the forum. He believes he is God, yet has nothing of value to contribute. Just ignore him.
