NEW ARTICLE: Are the Patriots Possibly AFC Championship Contenders? Suddenly, it's Not as Crazy as it Sounds

With our current QB and WRs?

what are you referring to winning or losing "with our current QB and WRs? " winning I hope. If losing I disagree.

This team is stacked, maybe so stacked that it's Stidhim time!!!
Or not... I don't think you spend this much cash to then hand it over to someone you didn't even have enough faith in to start over Hoyer or Cam

It is interesting on the QB front. Let's be honest, in the second 1/2 of the season, Cam was really really really bad. In the first 1/2 he wasn't too bad. If you are getting 1st half of the season Cam, and the second 1/2 was caused by a combination of injuries, covid, or bad footwork that is fixable, then he isn't a bad option for the team, and I think with a full year under his belt, along with a full off season and training camp, he could be a playoff qb.

Stidham, we have no idea. The only thing we have to go on is the fact that Bill played 2nd 1/2 Cam over him, and in the few opportunities he got, he threw some interceptions, although he did look 1/2 decent throwing the ball.

My hope is they trade up and draft a qb who gets all or at least part of a red shirt year then takes over for the foreseeable. I wouldn't be shocked if they traded for Watson, but I would be surprised. I would be disappointed if they didn't pick a qb at all, or if they drafted one in the 2nd or 3rd round, but that would tell me they think Cam is the answer or they think Stidham is. I guess we won't know much until after the draft.

BB went from best, to worst, to best again all over the course of one season... lol

They find their QB in the draft and it’s checkmate.

This is pure Faith in Bill below and not based on anything I witnessed but..

Bill watched cam newton last year and saw him every week in practice and still picked him over all these other FA QB's. That tells me Bill thinks alot of cams issues were mental and related to the talent around him. And that with coaching, a full offseason and better talent he can mask some of these issues. If Bill thought cam was cooked physically he would've moved on. He's not a sentimental guy.

Cams best years his #1 target was greg olsen. So it should be easier for him now going from Izzo to jonnu smith and hunter henry.

I still don't think he's the answer. I think that will be found in the draft.

His guaranteed money is 3.5 million, he could be the backup, they could use him as a gadget player or on the goal line. The QB of the future is surely in the draft.

Harris : 2234 yards.

This team isn't going anywhere with that slug behind center - Stidham or a rookie is the clear choice to get this team into contention, the only thing this team will do with SuperSuck is set the team closer to mid pack than to the playoffs - Of course if Watson can be dealt here then it changes everything but thats doubtful

To date there's no evidence at all that Stidham is that guy.

Agreed though that the QB need is out there. The right guy - and it's very doubtful it's Cam or Stidham - could turn this 2021 team from a team that MIGHT be in the mix on the playoff bubble into something special.

I'm excited at the thought of going for it in the draft for QB but not getting my hopes up too high.

I would even take Jacoby Brissette over the Superman trash - Jacoby has more talent and something left in the tank IMO
Brissett is a Dolphin now and isn't really an NFL quality starting QB either. The upgrade from Cam isn't that much tbh.

Improved roster and softer schedule puts them firmly in wildcard contention, and that’s assuming we see a significant improvement of QB play from last year. I’m pumping the breaks on Super Bowl contention talk for now as the competition in the AFC is very stiff and a lot of strong teams like the Chiefs, Bills, Browns, Ravens, Titans etc. are still making moves to try to improve their rosters. Things can look a lot different after the draft.

They have Stidham, his coach Palmer says he is ready to compete and knows this is his do or die season.
I'll believe it when I see it. I don't like Stidham and don't think he has what it takes to be an NFL QB.

Right now its a goofball and a pure garbage washed quarterback, the worst in the league and who needs desperately to retire before he gets more embarassing...we can pray he does retire, hes worthless trash
I don't think Cam is worthless trash, but I don't think he is a good QB any more, and his style of playing doesn't fit the Pats' offense. I'm hoping for a miracle in the draft, and/or that the addition of some TE/WR talent will help Cam (but probably not enough).

The coaches' evaluation of Stidham in practice doesn't match the hope/ expectations of fans here

He had the highest hill to climb. Never played in anything resembling a pro style offense. I do like that he's throwing with the WRs on the left coast. You never know. :)

Ask me around Christmas, 2021.

Sorry, not with Cam.

We need to see how the talent gels and plays together. The offense is better on paper. An assemblage of talent and playmakers is a start, but doesn't guarantee you a championship game spot. We'll see how it comes together once we're in October and November.

They should be able to compete for a playoff spot, though.
