You are focusing on the offense, but the defense was big or bigger in both the NFCCG and the Super Bowl. Would the Bucs got past Green Bay if they didn't totally shut down Rodgers? Or win the Super Bowl if they didn't shut down Mahomes? Granted Mahomes' struggles were beyond the Bucs' defense in his face all night, but they did play a big role.

There is a reason only one team has won back to back Super Bowls in the last twenty years.
The Bucs offense was lights out in both first halves then they throttled it back. But they almost blew it against the Pack because they couldn't pick up steam again. Against the Chiefs, they just dialed it down after half time.

The Bucs have retained their top FAs. Godwin, Shaq and David were rated at #1 in their positions going into FA.

The Bucs just won after dominating in the playoffs. The team clicked at the end of the season.

You do make a good point, the team could come down to earth and be soft after winning. But that's where Brady's leadership takes over.

Brady knows how to stay hungry after success and that can help his teammates stay focused.

But I agree you can't just pen the Bucs into the Superbowl. The NFC is still a strong conference

The Pats have only won back to back Super Bowls once under Brady. And he had arguably the best defense in the NFL those years. Brady's leadership can only go so far.

I think the Bucs are really talented, but I don't know if I look at them as the 2003/2004 Pats talented or even the 2014/2015 Seahawks who were the closest of winning back to back Super Bowls since the Patriots.

Duggar is a future Pro Bowler.
Winfield is a future HOFer. I wasn't downplaying Dugger but Winfield was a starter on a Superbowl winning team that embarrassed a great offense.

Dugger was still a good pick but Winfield is the better player. But time will only settle that argument so I won't go further with it

It can always explode in your face, but they sure as hell are seizing the moment and giving it a go.

All I am saying that this could blow up in their face. Not saying it will or even likely to.

Brady threw three picks in the second half. That isn't throttling it back. The Packers didn't capitalize on it and two were on third down on deeper passes, but they were still picks.

And I didn't mention in the Chiefs' game.

49ers with a signing:

The Bucs defense has been the #1 run defense in back to back years.

That defense is great.

The offense took time to gel showing signs of greatness during the regular season but started to click after the bye week.

It's not a lock, but they are definitely the #1 team in the NFC, but it isn't a lock

way way too early to crown someone a future HoF after 1 season.

Winfield gives up 6 TDs and is the worst FS in the league, but GBS thinks he's a "future HOF". *ROFLMAO*

Hoping the Pats put a 1st round tender on Jackson and actually get him signed to a long term deal. Wouldn't mind seeing Gilmore with a revamped deal that puts him in the 15M range..

The Bucs had the 8th best scoring defense last year (just behind the Patriots at 7). They were sixth in yards allowed. they were sixth in take aways. They were a very good defense, but not a top defense.

And if they are the #1 team in the NFC it is in part that their competition got worse. The Saints have been gutted.
