DRAFT BGC 2021 Pre-Draft/Patriot-Type Prospect(s) thread

There are 3-4 guys with serious potential to be in the top 10 C conversation in a few years if health permits and they have a little luck.
I've had a little luck with hitting on prospects but only a few have really panned out. It's tough.

What are your thoughts on Jackson Carman? I think he had a potential to be a top 15 pick if he had gone back to Clemson.

Just food for thought: Elijah Moore had more yards per game than DeVonta Smith. 149 vs 143.

The touchdown difference is pretty remarkable, true, and I still think Smith is the superior player, but Smith was also a Senior with a top notch college QB. Moore has arguably put up better numbers (sans touchdowns/YPC) for each of their respective years in college.

Lots of intriguing options in this year's WR class. I don't know if we'll spring for one early, but there are multiple of almost every prototype. When I look at other positions, I'm not sure I have such rosy feelings about their depth in the draft. That's why I keep coming back to one of the top QBs, or a trade down and grab Z Collins.

That said, between work and a growing family, I'm way behind this year compared with most years, and I'll probably never have the time for it that I did with only a couple children. My brood keeps me busy, and I'm okay with the tradeoff. :)

I would love for us to draft wr Moore of ole miss. He is dynamic, sudden and incredibly proficient at getting open.

the knock on him is his size. But bb likes smaller wide receivers.

Way too slow off the snap of the ball.

needs to be a guard in the nfl.

I really Moore & Shi Smith in the 2nd for us. Chase at the X and one of them in the slot would go a long way to cure some of our problems but who knows if we'll double dip that early.

I do believe FA will be very telling. If we're looking at and actually land a big shot WR I think we'll be preparing for a possible trade up for a QB.

You think Shi Smith goes in the 2nd round? Seems a little rich for my blood.

Inconsistent mechanics, both upper and lower half. Inconsistent depths on there drops. Inconsistent hand placement on drops and when striking. Not hit or miss but lot of room for improvement there as well. I see why some think he's a guard but he'll have to clean up a lot of the same issues regardless of what spot he's in.

I like Jimmy Morrissey,. If we're talking C's. Probably not the most technically refined, but plays hard and nasty, high motor, high effort and, I might be wrong, buy I don't think he gave up a sack last year.

Define irony? Simms is right about the mock drafts though. If you don't know almost anyone can make one now. There are so many sites and literally anyone can make one. I wouldn't bother with most.

This guy tracks the big shots. I'm not on there but it's a great resource nonetheless. I'm not joking, it's a good baseline.

It's true

Yep, I've said that myself.

It's like there's an assumption that because he's so athletic and such a good receiver, he can't block. But he is a willing and capable blocker, not elite, but he pulls his weight.

Meanwhile, I'm reading scout reports about Pat "Baby Gronk" Freiermuth that laud his blocking ability. Based on what, his nickname? Blocking is very much a weakness in his game, and that's not a knock on Freiermuth, I'm a big fan of his but I wonder how some of these draft experts form their opinion. Do they actually watch tape and analyze players or do they throw out soundbites based on lazy assumptions and consensus.

I mean, I'm far from an expert, but every year there are more and more consensus expert opinion in the media that is egregiously wrong. It's like evaluating Mac Jones, but only Mac Jones, based on his team mates

Just saw @reamer giving this a :( and he's right. It's really sad.

Guys that can play that need a little help with exposure. The long shots. A lot of them are getting a raw deal.

I wish teams do the right thing and reach out bc they'll be getting 100000 tapes and clips sent to them.

I've been saying it for a while now. A&M and more than a few others show a willing blocker. No effort problem. He even made a few plus plays.
He has no technique. Hand placement needs some work. He doesn't use his whole body. Like he'll try to just use his length which will cause him to overextend and have no real power or balance. Then he'll try to just lower his shoulder coming out the backfield. Then he'll put reps together where he'll do like 50-60% of those things right and just fight. And you go ... ok it's there, he'll never be Gronk but he could actually be a good inline blocker.
I also speculated Florida didn't really get on him about his blocking. I'm sure they did lol. In practice and such but it just wasn't a priority bc he was so much of their offense. Such a skilled player. You're not sweating that stuff but they did ok. I think he has some potential there.

He's a good stalk blocker, good in space but yes he can struggle inline. I thought he was better than he is and think he can improve. He improved his awareness and technique this year but should be better. And that's the real problem with him. He's not great at anything once you dive in. He's not a great athlete, blocker or rec threat. Good to very good but I never got 1st round hype.

No and I don't think most really know what to look for with all due respect. So many are obsessed with A22 and knowing scheme etc ... Lol I could care less. Honestly idc. I absolutely find out what system a QB is running and try to find out and come a conclusion if he's doing a good job but I don't go crazy with that stuff. Why, I'm not a coach. I'm not trying to be a QB coach or WR. So I don't go off too much into that area.

A lot of people won't stick there necks out there and be different. Guys get locked onto guys.

Idk it's easy to spot imo.
