Other than Watson that's...not exactly an inspiring list.

I guess I'm on Team "Rookie Quarterback". lol

I think Cam or Jimmy. Likely Cam.

I think Dak Prescott would be kind of cool. but, I mean, what did you expect? They're hunting for a QB in a league where good QBs are locked up by the few teams lucky enough to have one.

I'm surprised to see Trubisky and Winston both at 2%.

Niner’s GM came out today and said Jimmy would be their 2021 QB. Either way I think we either roll with a rookie or take a pass on this year and rebuild and stock for a rookie next year

After careful consideration of all the candidates...

Mariota + draft a rookie is probably the best "realistic" scenario.

2021 is looking bleak right now. I see an incoming 5-11 record.

The hard truth is that no matter how clever your coach is or how good the rest of your roster is, without at least a solid quarterback you are NOTHING in the modern NFL. And getting a real QB is a huge crapshoot.

Like maybe the low key greatest thing about Brady's 20 years or whatever was that it simply meant the most important position in football was sorted out, every year, over and over and over again.

Tribisky is being overlooked.

His numbers are good and he's been relatively reliable health wise. His confidence is rock bottom because he went before Mahomes and Watson.

I believe that McDaniels could work with him.

Mariotta, trubisky or stidham... cam though might be a decent bet, I feel will be detrimental for Bill and mcdaniels legacy is he flops again. So better to go with a new qb. I don't think a rook will start. One surprise option could be minshew.

Mariota or Trubisky and trade up for Wilson or Lance.
Both take care of the football both are very accurate.
I’d prefer Wilson due to the Level of competition he played against and more game experience.
I think Fields is going to be a Jet.

If they find a good QB as a bridge I think 9-7 and wild card is doable. If it’s status quo meaning Stidham then I can see a 3 win season and a top 3 pick in 2022.

Not expecting miracles in year 1 of a rebuild.

How many more games can we win with the following, likely doable with our cap money. I expect some of the youngsters to improve and some value from 2021 draftees or UDFA's. You're saying that having a QB, bringing back the opt-outs, spending $50M of Cap money, and drafting will result in 2 FEWER games won? Were you one of those predicting 4 wins last year?

OFFENSE
QB: replace cam with Trubisky, Mariota, Winston, or Brisette
RB: one of White or Burkhead (with improvement from Taylor)
WR: at least two serious upgrades (not difficult (the bar is low)
TE: one serious upgrade
OL: lose Thuney, improvements from rookies and Wynn and an addition

DEFENSE
DL: re-sign Butler, Guy and add a NT
LB: add Hightower and a free agent
CB: sign Jackson, give some bucks to Gilmore (and/or) add)

What are you smoking? His numbers are good? 31st in yards with 2,055. 16 TD with 8 INT and a QBR rating of 61.3 You really do have to be smoking something great to call those numbers good.

This team is trending in the wrong direction.

QB's listed above won't do diddly squat. See below.

You're also expecting an upgrade at WR/TE which has been a massive need since 2018. I'm not going to hold my breath significant upgrades are incoming.

They arguably have the worst front 7 in the league and has been a need since 2018. Signing Butler and Guy and adding a NT is not enough. And are we adding a body or is this NT any good? The D desperately needs a bona fide playmaker with the front 7. In fact, they need 3-4 new starters on the front 7.

Even if they keep both Gilmore and Jackson, their front 7 is embarrassing terrible.

I will wait until after FA and the draft, but as of right now, they are a 5-11 team at best. I predicted 9-10 wins last year as I didn't think Cam Newton would be the worst QB in the NFL by far.

What exactly is a Sliplady? Ive always wondered.

The numbers you cite there are from 2020. Tribisky did not start for 7 games while Foles was busy going 2 - 5.

Tribskys completion % has been relatively steady.

2018 65.0%
2019 63.0%
2020 67.0%

Tribiskys INTs are a little high, but Im wondering if McDaniel's could improve that in a short passing offense. I say yes. Tribisky has been reliable and very mobile. He is not a statue and has averaged over 5.0 yac. Mitchell Trubisky Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Furthermore Sliplady Chicago had OL issues galore in the beginning of the season, but eventually ironed them out and found a staring lineup at OL. Tribsiky played bad no doubt and Im not trying to pin the blame elsewhere. Post benching Tribiskys passing % was way better with 5 games ranging from 68% to 78%. Mitchell Trubisky 2020 Game Log | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Im looking at completion %,
Reliability = health. Jimmy is IR waiting to happen.
Cost - Hopefully cut and a FA will cost the Pats no picks.
He comes with no contract unless Chicago resigns Probably willing to sign a Pats prove it deal like Cam.

Everything adds up to Tribisky being the best option IMO.

Very nice logo there.

So, our 2020 defense was terrible and adding Hightower, a NT, and a mid-level free agent LB will make it worse. I guess that we all live in our own worlds. Stats don't tell everything, or even close. However, please show that our 2020 defense was terrible.

After all the 2020 defense was so terrible that we won 7 games with the worst QB, WR's and TE's in the NFL.

Brissett is just a hard no. I'd rather have a season of Stidham.

I wonder why Gabbert is so "high" up the list. Seems odd.

What a sad statement for a football fan & Pats fan.

Philadelphia made easy playoffs w WENTZ and won SB vs Brady w FOLES (SB MVP).
Jaguars were one iffy ref decision away from making the SB w BORTLES vs Brady.
Tennessee made AFCCG game w TANNEHILL who nobody considered solid QB at the time, was a backup until W7.
Buffalo made AFCCG game w ALLEN who was considered a bust not too long ago.
And this is just the last 4 years.
CAM was MVP in 2015 and felt unstoppable; Denver beat Carolina w shadow PEYTON* (declining hard 2015* benched for OSWEILER* mid season)
etc etc

QB is important but football is about TEAM & strategy. There are many ways & circumstances to win.
Go read BB's favourite book - The Art of War - just 60 pages. Might cheer you up..

60-80M can bring lots of good veteran players. No reason not to be at least a little bit excited for the 2021 Pats TEAM.

* Manning finished the game 13-of-23 for 141 yards with one interception while being sacked five times, scoring his only passing points with 3:08 left in the fourth quarter when he connected with wide receiver Fowler for a two-point conversion, which ended up being the final pass of his career. Benched for Osweiler mid season who went to sign top QB contract w Houston.
