DRAFT BGC 2021 Pre-Draft/Patriot-Type Prospect(s) thread

Are people sleeping on Jaylen Twymen? I know he's small and offers next to nothing defending the run, but he sure knows how to get after the QB. I mean, I've seen mocks where he's still around early in the 5th, which seems insane to me. Am I missing something?

What’s the scouting report on Florida DT/NT Tedarrell Slaton besides being massive as f*#k? (6’5” 340+)
From what I've seen, he does a decent job holding his ground when his technique is good, but he's too high coming out of his stance and often negates the advantage of his size. I like him in the 6/7 round range as a developmental player. IF he hits his upside, he can be an absolute star -- ceiling is an all pro. Surprising burst for a big guy when fresh. Lots of conditioning and technique concerns, though, and I'm guessing he doesn't ever reach his potential. Bacon might have a different take, though.

Appreciate the info. Thanks @reamer

No I agree with everything. He's a project on a snap count until he provides real consistency. 5th-7th round gamble

Maybe a little. He's someone who could help himself with a good pro day. Moves but not explosive from snap to snap. I'd like to see his #'s. Hand usage is +. Reminds me of Kenny Clark, Grady Jarrett type. Undersized fire hydrant type. Big variety of moves though and tough as hell. He doesn't mind making it a fight against someone who weighs 50lbs more.

I like him a lot but see a few athletic limitations. Again testing might show a player with better measurables than im giving him credit for. I'm think early day 3.

If he gets undrafted one of the easiest bets he ends up in NE as HPFA.
Played OT in HS, recruited as top5 Guard in the country, turned into DT his freshman yr in Florida - maybe Bill takes a flyer earlier :)

He's a dude. His arm is pretty decent for sure but his delivery is bit much. He plays fast though, quick getting to drop, getting the ball out but at times it seems like a bit much. He can touch 50+ but he'll need to load up. Looks a lot smaller than he is imo. Not afraid or tense in the moment ... So far. Thing about pressure is he responded pretty well but until he's around better athletes that won't really he answered. He doesn't panic. Can move, work off concepts, find his reads. Again maybe it's just me but looks a bit small.

I wanted to swing back around to Davis. NFLDraftScout has him at 6'2 4/8 and 205 lbs.. So, you mentioning that he doesn't "look big" is accurate. They also have him as a the "24th ranked QB" currently with a UDFA grade. Wondering if you think that a 6th or 7th round pick would be outlandish or if you think that he's under-graded.

I just mentioned him in @long distance thread. No I could see someone liking him and not wanting to lose him to another team. Spend a 6th-7th, even 5th if they really love him and think his floor is a backup role. I'd pay a lot of a good backup. I like him and a lot more in a class with little depth.

Interesting fact of Justin Fields from NFL Scouts.

The more in-depth evaluations from some slower but more thorough and dependable evaluators are coming, the more of a carousel QB draft is becoming (while looking fixed only a few weeks ago):

I have to be honest the Fields stuff is interesting and a little much imo. I haven't heard one good case against Fields yet. If you come across any that are worth while please send them this way. I'd be absolutely thrilled with Fields and w/e supposed problems he has. The longer I do this the quicker I can spot bs. All these guys are smarter than me but sometimes those types can't get out of their own way in that regard.

Remember this from last year?

Here's a good example of what Fields is looking at every drop back. Not easy and a lot is asked of him but also his WR. Let's not forget they are running options, reading coverage and have to declare (through stem) as well. At times he's been waiting for them to get open. And if they're not declaring properly or running a proper route it makes his job a lot harder.

It's a difficult offense to run nevermind excel at which he did. He does have some trouble with route recognition, slight hiccup at times pulling the trigger, at times he'll pass up some easy gains. He's incredibly accurate though all over the field. He absolutely can and does go through reads and works concepts. Anyone saying he can't either has an agenda or no clue what they're talking about with all due respect. I saw the article @patsfanfromoversea posted and frankly think its nonsense. Nothing against you @patsfanfromoversea , post away, I love how active you've been. More than welcome here. Please don't take this towards you.

I just don't believe it myself after watching Fields but who am I? 7 times?? I'm sorry I'm calling bs on that.

He has trouble with route/coverage recognition but so much of that comes with experience. And again that offense is complex as hell and he was borderline special at times. A lot of struggles for these prospects comes working the MOF or they get caught up working across the field bc you'll have man-man match/zone- zone match on separate sides. While you have 2 WRS working a concept on one side - slant/flat, flat/curl w/e. Than on the other you have two guys running verticals but have to read coverage to decide on post-go-corner or w/e. Not easy, out of all the big name guys he ran the hardest offense imo.

He's a tough kid that will absolutely stand in the pocket or make a play with his legs without fear. That doesn't get talked about enough. He's a big name kid but isn't soft imo.
Incredibly accurate to any and all parts of field with velocity. He has some gas. Has a change up, can feather it or put some nice touch on it.

He looks like a slightly bigger Watson in a lot of ways.

I love Wilson and Lance but Fields played against legit NFL talent every week and looked great for the most part. Certainly not a can't miss guy but you gamble on him in a second if available imo.

Most complete rusher but concussions have actually had doctors telling him shut it down I believe? Could be wrong on that specifically (shutting it down) but I know there's a lot of concern.
