Surely they’ll all be right soon. It’s only been 4 Super Bowl wins and 5 Super Bowl appearances since the Chiefs game on 9/29/2014.

The ongoing 20-year media/pundit face planting is lost on a lot of Patriots fans who don't understand why you should still root hard for Brady.

I'm old enough to remember the Boston home media who had totally written TFB off and BB answering the incessant shouted QB questions with "We're on to Cincinnati"
Thank God I was at that epic night game. Road to the Super Bowl statement game.

Sam Monson Edition

2014 Kansas City edition:

Then he backtracks after Brady wins SB49:

Welcome to 2020:

That us a mind-blowing stat

The 34-11 playoff record looks ridiculous as well. Mahomey is off to a good start as well. I would like to see these other teams challenge them next year in the afc but likely favorites again in the afc.

This sort of stuff is definitely amusing. However, it would be much more amusing if a huge chunk of Patriots fans, and the Patriots coach, hadn't basically said the same thing after the 2013 season. And it would definitely be much more amusing if Belichick the coach/GM hadn't essentially spent the rest of Brady's Patriots career doubling down on that, even as Brady was taking the team to 4 Super Bowls in the next 5 years.

One of our very own posters, Rob, is an eagle eyed televison scout who was able to spot Brady's decline all the way back in 2014. You might be able to find that insider access in this very thread. It's been a really, really slow decline for Brady, but it's been there nonetheless and certainly justifies letting him go for no draft picks or anything, with no QB succession plan. There's a lot of really keen scouts on this forum who are feeling vindicated right now because Tampa Bay was already an elite team, so they've doubled down and just keep looking better.

The playoff and Super Bowl stats are unbreakable.

NFL Career Playoff Passing Yard Leaders
1. Tom Brady - 12,449

Was just thinking about next year's game when Tampa comes to NE. If the NFL were smart, I think they would try and time that game for when Brady moves into the all-time passing yards lead. He's 1154 yards behind Brees, that's what, game 5?

Ok, this blew my f'ing mind:

Most QB's are about done by age 37. If Brady only had his career stats AFTER he turned 37, he has...

4 SB wins - tied for 1st all time with Montana and Bradshaw
5 SB appearances - tied for 1st all time with Elway
16 playoff wins - 1st all time

His career post 37th birthday would have the best argument for GOAT all by itself!

Super Bowl Passer Ratings, per game (contemporary QBs with at least two starts)
*MVP award in bold

Brady, 125.8 (55)
Brady, 115.4 (52)
Brady, 110.2 (39)
Brady, 101.1 (49)
Brady, 100.5 (38)
Brady, 95.2 (51)
Roethlisberger, 93.2 (43)
Brady, 91.5 (46)
Manning, 88.5 (44)
Brady, 86.2 (36)
Brady, 82.5 (42)
Manning, 81.8 (41)
Mahomes, 78.1 (54)
Roethlisberger, 77.4 (45)
Manning, 73.5, (48)
Brady, 71.3 (53)
Manning, 56.6 (50)
Mahomes, 52.3 (55)
Roethlisberger, 22.6 (40)

  • Brady has the six highest passer ratings.
  • Brady's worst performance (by passer rating) was Super Bowl 53. In that game, he led the game winning drive and threw essentially the game winning pass to setup a run-in from the one yard line. Manning's best rating involved the game winning pick 6 against the Saints, while Mahomes's best included two interceptions.
  • Manning and Mahomes won MVP awards with passer ratings of 81.8 and 78.1; Brady achieved a passer rating above 81.8 nine times in ten games. Manning, Mahomes, and Roethlisberger combined achieved a passer rating over 81.8 just two times in nine games.
Thats kinda random to pick at least two starts. Also where's Russell Wilson

Nick Wright, of all people, did a breakdown of Brady's career into 3 parts. And, in doing so, he ended up arguing that Brady has had 3 separate HOF worthy career stretches.

This is worth the watch despite having to listen to Nick Wright's voice.

For those who don't click on it...

Brady's first 7 years equal or betters Aikman's career!
Brady's middle 7 years equal or betters Marino's career!
Brady's last 7 years equal or betters Montana's career!

Seriously, watch this video. Mind blown.

The Tom Brady of coping Tom Brady haters. Dude has been in this from the beginning...the early 2000s. His brain is destroyed.

I used to torment the hell out of him on the old KFFL boards when he was known as Still Swingin. He was a Steelers fan and Peyton Manning fan. And he was a sensitive little twat who twisted himself in circles to denigrate Brady.

Brady has done more since he turned 40 than Manning did his whole career. Glad Scotty is living with that reality.

That’s awesome man! Yeah, I remember those times.

System Quarterback. Vinatieri. Manning would have 5 rings!

Interesting fact though: Brady has gotten a ring seven more times than SK has gotten a girlfriend.

And what's particularly impressive in this late career run is that he's front and center amongst the players responsible for the titles. This isn't Peyton in 2015 leaning on an all-time D to a title or similar.

Regards,
Chris

For sure. Peyton wasn't even Trent Dilfer in that 2nd SB run. He was a poor man's Trent Dilfer!

I even felt a little mean typing that. But it is accurate.

Late 2014 to 2015

Playoffs were worse except vs us in goddammed m-fing, c-ucking AFCCG

What a tool...lol...such a disgraceful jackass in how he’s reacted to Brady and the Patriots for years.

"I don't have seven Super Bowl rings, but I think I played in an era when football was more of a contact sport. You're seeing a lot of that now -- players are protected," Rice said via Pro Football Talk. "When you have seven rings, you're doing something right. I think with Brady, he still wants to play. He said something about playing until he's 45. I think he can do it now in this league because players are so much more protected.

So, yeah, he can have that GOAT status. I never wanted that status anyhow," Rice concluded.

I think this is pretty stupid anyway when you try to compare the two best at different positions and ranking them. It’s like arguing if someone is better at playing the guitar than someone else is at playing the drums.
