I believe that. No way he wants to end his career on that note.

I think he is done. He deserves a better ending than the one he got tonight, but I think his heart hasn't been 100% in it for the last few years.

He is one of the classiest guys to play in the NFL. And one hell of a football player.

Depends on A) How honest he is with himself and B) Whether he honestly could do better next season. He's already playing with house money in his 40's, but Brady is special for a reason. Just because Brees was an all time great QB doesn't mean he can keep things up year after year the same way. Not to mention the Saints are in a hairy cap situation, so it's not like they can surround him with any more talent next year. Brees may not WANT to end his career on that note, but it honestly may not be up to him.

No way peyton actually wants him back.

at this point he is barely a notch above Manning in his last season.

I’m glad he ended up not in the AFC East or who knows how that changes things.

Remember when the Dolphins picked a washed up Culpepper over Brees? Lol

Two B's....Ben and Brees! My two B's....Buh-bye!

Would be interesting if he didn't retire after all because as someone mentioned in this thread, the Saints are in unprecedented cap hell and probably can't afford him. He would probably hit free agency (no thanks).

But I think he just wants to announce the retirement on his own terms in a specific way other than the postgame press conference of yet another early playoff loss.

HOF career, one of the best to ever do it, and as fans of this team he is an example of how lucky we are. Brees is going to go down as unequivocally a top 10 QB ever and he won one ring in 2009, it took him 9 years to get it, he then spent the next 11 chasing his second.

Not a good outlook for the Saints. In cap hell, ending the road with your franchise QB, and may have to rely on a gimmick QB who will be 31 entering this upcoming season.

It just seems like he has lost a great deal of arm strength. He could not zing the ball tonight, It seems like he had a bit of a noodle arm.
Part of it may have been because he is not fully recovered from his rib injury, but it did not seem like he was the same Brees.
Not very mobile and no zip.

Not every player has to play until they are 45 like Brady,

Much different to the guy they’re playing next week. Complete slinger of the football.

His arm is shot. It is time for him to move to the next chapter,

he was brilliant when he played and a first ballot hall of famer. I wish him luck in his future endeavors,

His records where surpassed by brady this year especially the td passes. Amazing that brady has outlasted now brees.

The Saints would have won 11+ games with Jarrett Stidham in 2020. Brees is an all-time great but is completely dependent on a unsustainably great supporting cast.

Incredibly entertaining QB. Was always a household name. It was a pleasure seeing his career play out from afar. Thanks for the memories...and a few fantasy championships.
