Can we finally stop pretending that Cam is good?

What do we make of the fact that this season he's had his 2nd highest completion % of his career, and it's higher than any of his playoffs or his MVP season?

I never thought that Cant was much to brag about and his woeful performance this season didn't change that. He's a smooth talker though. If he's here next year I'll puke.
Yeah that completion % is a strange one, though I'd wager a little that his yards/attempt this year isn't anything about which to write home either...

It's 7.21 which is kinda average but his highest since his MVP year.

This is pretty simple. We think Stidham might blow. Let's confirm it.

We know that Cam blows. (I don't wanna hear it: you KNOW he blows.) That's abundantly confirmed.

A decent number of promising youngsters and a couple vets aside, the team need a lot of work, starting with qb, receivers, tight end.

Let me reiterate: a LOT of work.

So let's stop pretending Cam is still an NFL quarterback. He's just sort of a tree that falls from time to time into the end zone, leading fools like Wiggy to go all "Yippee."

Get to work, Bill. And hire somebody to help you evaluate players, because you might just blow a little too.

He's not good but he's fine, we're just used to almost perfection in when to throw the ball away and when to take the sack. Cam is awful at the mental side of the game and his throwing is average at best (20+ yards he's fine but short balls suck). I like the run dimension he brings but it doesn't make up enough for this passing and mental flaws.

Not a complete bust, decent stop gap signing, but he'll probably lose us more games than he wins. Would keep him next year as a backup potentially though.
He's not close to "fine," unless your standards have long-since found their way out to the septic tank.

Meanwhile, back in the driveway....

Took a team completely devoid of talent to the verge of contention before the plug was pulled on the franchise. Set the team up with draft picks that allowed the new Ravens franchise to pick guys like Ray Lewis.

Factually inaccurate to say he was a failure. His W-L record in his last season couldn’t be any more meaningless as the franchise was terminated.

And who was that “1” in the win column against in the playoffs?
Belichick gets no credit for Ray Lewis. Seriously, what a reach to pay Belichick a compliment.

His record was 36-44 with 1 playoff in 5 seasons with Cleveland. That's a Fail. Face it, Belichick is a stiff without Brady.

I'm not giving him credit for Ray Lewis, but he does get credit for setting them up with the draft picks that allowed them to pick Lewis. Which is a fact.

I stopped reading your second point halfway through. HIs record in Cleveland couldn't be any more meaningless to me. It's simply not an informed opinion to blame the coach for the franchise losing games after the plug was pulled by the owner.

Cam has had a chance to pull offa comeback in at least five games and he failed measurably each and every time!

Taking a sack on 4th down today was inexcusable.

The fumble in Buffalo

The Denver fiasco.

The Seattle game.

He just doesn’t seem to have “it”.

Newton England might have something to say about this thread. He already posted several different excuses for Cam in the post game thread.

Take note ladies and gentlemen: if Cam is playing poorly, it's his cast and/or health. If he's playing well, he's healthy.

He did against Arizona. By accident. Lol

Cam is a NO GO. he is figthing,, but that`s it. please, get me a new QB. Thank you Cam and bye bye.

2 Games left and finally i think i can side with the OP

Newton has been bad on his ball placement all season, he doesnt seem to go through his reads fast enough and he isnt showing up on big time games. With that being said, his salary seems reasonable to his performance

I wouldnt put Stid in unless he's clearly outperforming Cam in practices. Since I dont think he is, I have no problem with Cam being the starter until the 3rd quarter of the last game. I dont think "giving a player experience" should come first to "we are trying to win", regardless of the big picture

Next year things cant get any crazier right? So lets just hope for better things to come

they’re eliminated from playoff contention. Why wouldn’t you put Stid in at this point? Team should be working to improve its draft position instead of empty wins.

I dont believe in empty wins, but i get what you mean

The thing is, to me, culture is something that goes beyond one year. If we decide once that is better to lose, the message sent is simply that: Sometimes, losing is better. And putting a player for the sake of experience does tell the other players on the field "Hey, winning now is not that important..."

This mentality only makes sense in "corporations leagues" where Drafts exist and I think its truly cancerous thinking.

Belichick has tanked in the past. Specifically, in 2005, when the Bengals basically said "Hey, you want the #3 seed instead of the #4 seed? It's yours if you want it." That was the game that ended with Matt Cassel airmailing a 2PC attempt into the stands. [The #3 seed had to play PIT.]

Fair enough, I wasnt into Football back then, but I dont doubt it. Still, I really dont like the mentality it and its why relegations should exist everywhere in competitive sports*

*I know that its its impossible due to the Business Model of the NFL, NBA etc etc

Newton is among the worst 5-6 qb’s in the league and falling. Ill be surprised if he plays anywhere next year.
As long as he doesnt Kneel, he'll find a spot
