Official Post Game Thread- Rams beat the Pats

If you can not see that Stidham has way more touch on his passes you have no idea what you are looking at. Remember Stidham's deep pass to Gunner last week? Stidham has not thrown a pick against the Chargers or Rams so now it is that Stidham cannot throw a long ball? You are blind.
Agreed..Besides stidham throws were under pressure less than 2 seconds. When was the last time cam threw a ball in less than 5 seconds?

You guys! You’re saying some very vicious and hurtful things to one another. Please stop! We all root for the same team. Like... where is the love, brothers?
I know you’re kidding, but it’s weird how close you sound to Dale talking about Kirk Minihane.

Not true.

Just because he isn't the answer does NOT mean someone else here is. And it's very clear Bill does not think the answer is sitting on the bench. Hell he really doesn't seem to think the person sitting on the bench is a better answer than Cam.

If we draft a QB, there's a very good chance he sits to develop a bit. At that point you can either keep Cam for cheap or get Brissett who is no better and his last contract was for money and he could make decent back up money. The results will be negligible. Or you can have an unhappy Stidham who is worse than Cam (and yes based off the information we have and what the coaches are doing he is is worse) being forced to take the hits while his replacement is on the bench and our new rookie has to sit behind someone who doesn't have any experience.

The other option is we get lucky and find someone in free agency who is better.
He is the answer. But the question is Who totally sucks as a qb?
Brisset isn’t an nfl starting caliber qb but he is multitudes better than the piece of crap we are throwing out there.

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the coaches’ meetings. Hear exactly what they think of the QB play for the majority of this season, I’m guessing it’s not very kind

yeah but now we have the stat line and it's not pretty. if he's starting for the pats next year I will be SHOCKED.
Only way Newton is in the NFL next year is if he is a backup quarterback. In fact being 35th in touchdown passes the season, when there are 32 teams in the NFL means you there should actually be some backup starting over Newton.

I'm also down for Stidham the rest of the way. Damn if only we had Harris last year... It would of been enough to beat the Chiefs I think if we had someone make them respect the run. Was kinda hoping they win out and get BB a coach of the year but honestly our players suck too much and it's a players game.

Well putting tonight aside do we have on this team? (Long term)

The Onwenu find is huge. We should have a stabilized line for years enough if Wynn can shake off his injury woes.

Hope Harris isn’t hurt too bad. He looks like the RB1 for the foreseeable future. The rest of the offense is a mess. Desperately need weapons. Desperately need a QB.

Defensively JC should continue to be an amazing bargain. Dugger and Uche look promising. Still like Winovich too. Maybe Hightower does come back? A lot of work needs to be done, especially in the front seven.
Isn’t JC about to be RFA? Why will he be an amazing bargain?

Uche looked amazing tonight if you focused on him. Goff kept getting rid of the ball quickly but Uche got lots of fast pressure and influenced a good amount of throws.

Really happy with the rookies this year. I think this could be one of Belichick's best classes. Onwenu, Dugger, Uche, look like future studs. Plus Jennings, Herron, and Bryant all look like they will develop into at least good role players. That's a great haul, even if the TEs and Kicker are complete busts.

Just trying to look at the bright side.

Cam makes horrible decisions, has no pocket presence and just terrible awareness and reads...BUT...this nightmare has to be blamed on a whole bunch of others:

1) BB and McDaniels- for assembling a terrible roster
2) The OL failed Cam Newton tonight....period
3) THe TE's are beyond awful
4) No #1 or even a #2 WR

The TEs are rookies, in a league which rarely produces impact rookie TEs, even with full OTAs, training camp, joint practices and a QB who can throw the ball at an average NFL level. Anyone calling Asiasi and Keene busts at this point is either too lazy to do the research about the development of young NFL TEs or is a moron (or maybe both).

Stidham is not a very good QB, not the future QB of this team, Bill clearly doesn’t think much of him, and probably not on the roster next year. Sorry if that offends you.
Or Bill doesn’t think he’s completely ready yet. But you know all because he threw picks. I got you.

I take Joe flacco over Newton at this point.

LOOKS LIKE 6-10 IS BACK ON THE MENU, BOYS!

There is no “but.” Cam has zero awareness and makes terrible decisions as well as no pocket presence like you’ve said. You can have the best receiver, OC, tight end, etc and you still would suck. Sure, they might hide some deficiencies, but not to Cam’s extent.
It’s like he has never played the game. He can’t find open receivers, he throws to a random area when the receiver isn’t there resulting in a pick 6, he seems totally shocked when he gets sacked even though there is a clear escape route which for a guy who can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a pass should be what he is looking for.
It’s like we took the knowledge of a high school sophomore and inserted into an nfl QB

I would take backup QBs like Mullens at this point which is fair.

Bill doesn't have time to develop a quarterback and go with a known disaster at qb. If Cam is the same as he was this year that's a major bad look for BB.
If you draft a QB first round you are thinking longterm not short term. You are playing for a 15 year experience, not a one year experience. It would be irresponsible to ruin their development and rush them out into a bad situation if you felt they would benefit from development time. Even if that means putting up with Cam or Brissett who both are negligible right now (Cam is probably a better runner so I'm probably not even being fair) and maybe not going all out next season.

It sucks to say, but this isn't a team that ONLY has a QB problem and this we might not even solve that problem right away and you might at the very least have a cheap vet that knows the system, has the respect of the lockerroom and can make some plays in the run department while we figure out how to proceed at that position. Maybe we will get lucky and some talent will run to us in FA. But Rivers didn't. Idk why Stafford would come here when some win now team that had a better season will be out there. Maybe something crazy happens and Dak is on the market... is there any chance in hell Bill pays him 40 million a year? Probably not.

So it's likely we draft and it's likely it makes sense to have a vet on the roster and yes probably starting until the new QB is ready.

I know people want to think there's some out of the box ready to go answer just waiting for us, that's just probably not the case. QB purgatory is a thing and we are in it.

Or a victim of our own success. We maximized our chances the past few seasons at the expense of this season. It paid off. We won the SB 3 times in the past six years including 2018/19. There are 32 teams in the league. On average, it should take a century to accomplish what we did in the past half dozen years. Most teams can’t contend for more than a few consecutive years. We just had twenty. And now we are loaded with cap space.

The good news is that the charade of a Super Bowl run can finally be put to rest.

The bad news is that the Pats are in no man's land: not in the playoffs, but also not with a top-10 draft pick.
