Report: Hightower, Cannon to retire

Thank you Hightower for your one armed, game saving tackle on Lynch in the SB. Was one player i regret not getting his jersey. Tough dude, loved his game.
That and the strip sack vs Atlanta in the 4th quarter were huge. He made some huge plays throughout his career. Who can forget his first game as a pro, the play him and Chandler Jones made.

Thornton chimes in:
“this one, semi-confirmed by people I trust, definitely clears the very high bar I place on blog-worthiness”

Honestly, at this stage of their careers, I’d rather see the team with +16m in additional cap space. That’s a ton of money right there.

As others have mentioned, it would be nice to see HT stay on in a coaching role.
Welcome back!

I too would like to see HT stick around if he indeed decides to hang 'em up..But I thought he was terrific last season; he played great and looked great too, with the lost weight...He definitely could play next year at a high level if he chose to return, and his cap # would be fine by me.

again, before we get ahead of ourselves, consider the source.... this guy is NOT an insider and probably has no more clue than any of us...however, it isn't a huge leap to suggest he MAY retire.

Bill will trade the cap space for less cap space in 2022 & pay extra to UDFAs & long snappers ;)
Such a shame this franchise was saddled with bill belichick for so long. If we had never hired him we may have even won a SB.

Kind of shocking though that he will have never played a single game in the NFL as a 30 year old.

8 seasons total. 7 1/4 seasons played if you include the playoffs.
