The onside kick, and giving up at the end of the half tells me all I need to know about this team.

I honestly think belichick is low-key tanking That's why even after last week's debacle He continues to start Newton.

I've been saying this for the past 6 months. Bill is doing just enough to make him look like he's trying but in reality he isn't. No WRs or TEs in FA, and he waited for months to sign Cam. He's looking at 2021. He'll get plenty of abuse for the next 10 months but it's worth it if we can land Trevor or Fields.

You have a starting QB:
-with 2 touchdown passes at the near midpoint of the season,
-that is pulling his Superman routine on a rushing touchdown from the 3-yard line after Harris earned the majority of the yards on the drive, and
-is not protecting the football in critical situations.

Is this who Bill starts next week?
Bill will start Cam in New York.

the wins vs Miami and Oakland really screwed us. 0-7 would have us in prime position to pick top 3. Now we are likely looking at the 10th pick and are missing on the QBs and Parsons.

While I was cheering for a victory, this loss doesn't sting too much. Even before the COVID opt outs, this was shaping up to be a season where almost everything would need to break the Patriots' way in order to win a superbowl, and obviously it hasn't.

The close loss is a learning experience for the young guys, improves Pats' draft capital, and greatly reduces the chance of the Pats re-signing Cam, who I originally was intrigued by and pulling for, but who seems to be a shell of his former self. At this point he shouldn't be the QB even in the short term.

The Dolphins are going to be above .500 shortly. They have the Texans’ first round pick...

It was desperation.

This team just isn't good enough to win close games. Stid and Hoyer wouldn't win many games on this team either. Nor would Brady. Yeah, Cam takes responsibility for his performances but people blaming him for our losses is asinine. Yeah, he fumbled this one away and that's a reality but... Brady is max 3-4 on this unit. Cam or no Cam, we are probably below 500.

Is this a deep QB draft? I know nothing other than TL being an unanimous #1.

this. The worst case would have been a longterm extension. Now we are likely looking at Stafford etc. as the next QB

Apparently there are 3 good QBs in the draft. We should be up for one of them this draft, yea ?

.

It appears to be a good top 3 but they might all go in the top 5 picks.

This hurts. I still like Cam and believe he could have success with a better supporting cast but this loss might have just doomed our playoff hopes.

Can we cut Bentley. Our defense isn't as bad as it seems. The moment he was out of the lineup we immediately....immediately were stout against the run. The practice squad guy(#92) that replaced Guy really struggled as well. Meyers is clearly a good wr. I don't know why it took Harry getting hurt for him to get time.

I like Izzo more than most. He isn't good but I think he is good enough to be a bottom of the roster third or fourth te. Not his fault our staff did nothing with the position for years. We should have overpaid for an experienced guy at this spot. Cam's play would be dramatically better if he had a security blanket close to the ball park of Greg Olsen etc.

Uche had a nice debut. Small but effective.

Lastly, as good as Harris is I still want Sony to start. Our offense was just fine when he was still in the lineup. Harris seems extremely dangerous once the D is a little tired.

Why does everyone assume that a top 10 QB is some sort of sure thing when we see those players fail year after year after year? None of top 10 teams in the league were built that way yet many think that is an effective approach?

Yes,
We will start him until he performs poorly enough in a game (niners game) to get benched again midgame. And that benching will be permanent.

Call me crazy, but these close losses are tough for me...I never want to lose, but if we are going to, I'd rather they be blow outs...these close ones really affect me for hours
I hear ya. Any loss tends to affect me for hrs too, but blow outs reallllly piss me off. This year has been a bit easier.

Playoffs? Playoffs? I just hope we win another game.

We'll probably beat Jets so at least we can celebrate a win over the Jete

Absolutely. Newton has two touchdown passes and 7 interceptions, and still hasn't broken a thousand yards passing nearly midway through the season. Yet belichick rolls with him

Add in terrible receivers and tight ends and bringing Newton who could arguably be the worst starting QB in the league and it's a perfect recipe to look like You're not trying to tank when you are.

The most effective way probably is to sign a veteran QB, build this team talent up for a few years through FA and high draft picks and trade up for a QB once we are talented again.

I’d rather have a shot at a top 10 qb over settling with bargain basement nfl retreads and losers. Still up in the air on Fields, but I’d like a shot at Lawerence, Trask, Jones. I don’t know much about Lance.
