There has been ridiculous success for decades, the likes have never / will never be seen. The level of finger pointing is baffling.

It isn’t realistic for the good times to roll indefinitely. A rebuild has finally arrived. Excellent retooling over 20 years has kept this team on top. And now, it’s time to start over.

Yes, Brady is gone. Yes, losing an excellent QB hurts on the field. But the 43 year old Brady wasn’t winning the SB in NE this year. And, most likely, he won’t be winning one in TB either.
Which one will be winning one?

At this point I'd literally rather see Edelman play QB than any of the other guys. This is a disaster, and it's ALL on BB.
He had since March to find an answer. Cam is good enough when he can play free and loose, but you can tell the coaches are expecting him to make timing reads. He looks completely lost. Even when it's time to run, he's unsure. This guy is a playground style QB, and if the Pats won't let him just play like that, then switch to Stid the rest of the way. He is a INT machine, but that might be because he doesn't get any reps in practice.
Oh, and WHY has Meyers been on the bench all year. Isn't it obvious he's much better than Harry?

Those of us who laid the blame on Belichick for last season have been proven correct, unsurprisingly. Brady was never in any decline, that was a lie to cover for the horrible personnel Bill thrust upon him. It's pretty embarrassing to see how wretched our QBs are while simultaneously watching Brady working on building a case for MVP at age 43.

Not only that Belichick's defense looked AWFUL.
So, Brady made Bill's world-class defense look good last year?

Brady wasn't good last year and he didn't want to be here after AB got cut. That was obvious. He wants top-end targets to finish out and who can blame him?

I'm still rooting for the guy and he sure as hell can still play, but after Kraft 86'd AB, Tom didn't even look like he wanted to be out there last year.

Alright so can we all cut the charade now and agree Pats should be on full tank mode, trade Gilmore and Thuney, load up for the draft, need an overhaul at QB, WR and TE. Some could come in free agency but some will have to come in the draft. No shame in it, 20 years of dominance, Pats are entitled to at least 1-2 down years especially having to overhaul the skill position which was obvious 2 years ago.

Was naïve to think the team was ever winning something with the guy that ****ied out of a fumble recovery in the SB.

I'm a Kraft hater, but I need to think many company CEOs would have dumped Brown after he threatened a woman that was crucial in a case against him...

One of the main issues with our Offense is - if we're just playing for the low risk, run game, why did Harris only have 5 rushes in the first half. The kid was gaining 5+ yards a touch. That's always been an achilles heel for JMD - stick to the run! We're going to be outmatched in almost every game the rest of the way. So, #1 - don't defer when you win the toss. #2 - run Harris all day, and take the intermediate shots as changeups. #3 - play Byrd, Meyers, Edelman (and Gunner to spell him) #4 Get Keene in there as HBack.

Lose to the bills this weekend, FIRE SALE!

I get that, but Brady clearly changed right then last year. Went from LET'S GOOOO!!!!!! to throwing every other pass into the ground.

This was a tough one to watch!! We were really outplayed on offense and defense. Cam was bad and the defense was bad.

Can't get worse can it? lol

I think the coaching will figure it out....

Let's discuss!!!

This year is now about next year...completely. This team is pathetic. It has no realistic shot at the playoffs. There is a boatload of trash talent cluttering up the roster, starting with Newton, but extending deep into the offense in particular. N'Keal Harry is a bust: slow, clueless, lost. Edelman, one of my favorite players of all time, seems to have lost it: too many games, too many hits, the victim of time and of his own aggressiveness over the years. It'll be sad to see him go. Even the exalted head coach is looking a little used up.

There's considerable truth in the notion that one must hit bottom before rising up again, and that truth applies now to the Patriots.

I've been a Pats fan since they were the Boston Patriots, so I've been through these droughts before. Some here are afraid to admit that we are where we are. I'm not: I've seen the team rise, after all, from lower depths than these.

We need to bench Cam, ditch Harry and a number, yet to be determined, of others. We need to give Edelman a sendoff worthy of his accomplishments, then advocate like madmen for his inclusion in the Hall. We need to find out just what if anything we have in Stidham, And so on. The only rational purpose for this year now is to figure out how we can begin to grow again next year. Aside from that important work, this year is over.
