OBJ Rumor...

I get the feeling that Bill has deep down accepted that Pats are not competing for a SB this year. I think its best to save draft capital and cap space and go all in for 2021 or 2022.
His admission about how bad the offense I think is mostly intended to motivate his team.

I’ll have similar thoughts in with any trade regarding an elite WR or TE:

This team operated with an elite #1 option & elite #2 option for nearly decade:

2007-2009 Moss & Welker
2011-2012 Gronk & Welker
2013-2016 Gronk & Edelman
2017 Gronk & Cooks

They won a SB in 2018 with Gronk a shell of himself, elite run game & underrated defense. They played 2019 with a #2 option in Edelman & next to nothing else. They are currently playing with Edelman as a shell of himself & next to nothing else.

They will need to acquire a #1 option or a bunch of quality secondary options (2010 & 2016) if they want to have a quality passing offense. They could still put a respectable unit out there with the OL & Cam’s rushing ability.

Odell is in his prime, on a longterm deal & a top 10 WR. At some point they are going to make a splash trade or spend big in FA at the position.

I’m still a no. There is lotsa talent, but very little consistency. Hot head, selfish, self-destructive. He can stay in Cleveland.
I still mostly agree, but that DEN loss is what's putting doubt in my mind right now.

Why would Beckham want too come here? Newton can't hit an open Dameire Byrd downfield...
Don't waste picks trying to get from 7-9 to 9-7 or 10-6

Hopefully if he ends up here he isn’t taking his shoes off, unbuckling his shoulder pads, and arguing with the crowd with 8 minutes left in a game.

So, Bill believes that we are not competing for the SB, so he shouldn't do something to try to be more competitive for the playoffs and in winning the division. I strongly disagree.

As always, Bill is looking for a player who will help this year and be under contract for next year. This could happen at WR, DL,, or LB. There is an outside chance at TE, but I don't see a team giving us a starting TE for a reasonable price.

We don't have a 2...and he isn't worth a first. Not sure how.
We still have our 2nd-rounder.

Edit: didn't see that this was already answered before posting, sorry.

I'm in agreement with @TheRainMaker

We need a WR. Our receiving core is an absolute trainwreck and Edelman is also getting old... Sign Odell. Sign anybody Belichick! Not trying to hate on Belichick. Our receiving unit is just that bad.

I'm for this also because McDaniels doesn't care about TEs

.

These rumors are played out, 2 years and counting obj was being traded here.

Holy ****...what a scoop!

An unnamed guy texted him that an unknown amount of unnamed people were saying unspecific things about a possible trade of an underperforming player to an unknown team, terms of deal unspecified.

Do they give Pulitzers for sports?

Well, currently there isn’t a crowd, so 2 outa 3 ain’t bad....
