League giving Pats “a break” by postponing game?

Not to mention, can anyone think of a player who was more likely to have more contact with other players and staff then your starting QB. Then there’s all these stories of Cam living at the facility. To the point I don’t understand how no one has contacted it from him. Just head scratching all around.

I don't know if the league would want it. It's one of the best match ups on the entire regular season schedule and it sucks for everybody except for KC to have it be a lopsided, crippled contest, IMO. I think they would've preferred Cam to play.

Hell no. The leagues burning desire to have anyone but NE win the division trumps any matchup they would have. I still think Buffalo will fall back as they always do but the league is trying their best to get the result they want.

I love that we are still in "their" heads....

Just keep this train rolling, baby!!!

If anyone is gaining out of this postponement, it's the Chiefs.... they were supposed to play on a short week.... now it's a regular 7 day week for them.

No way. Playing Monday instead of Sunday clearly benefits NE more than KC (not that I really think it will make much difference). NE is the team with the backup QB thrust into the starting role very late in the week. Yeah KC played Monday but NE needed the extra day of preparation far more than KC did given what happened.

Of course, as stated above, I do not believe the League is worried about competitive advantage with the scheduling. This is just the procedure they are following to keep the schedule as much the same as possible.

Were they able to practice? No.
Was Hoyer able to take any reps with the ones? No.
Is the team flying to KC on game day? Yes.
Is that an advantage? Decidedly not.
Did KC Get an extra day of rest? Sure Did.
Did their DC get the chance to review film of Hoyers past games? Sure did.

Now tell me... it clearly benefits who more?

Its okay... you can admit it... we all know the answer bucco bruce...

I already told you whom I feel it benefits more. What do you think Belichick and Hoyer did all Saturday and Sunday? Pop some brewskis and watch TV? Oh, by the way....

*yawn* BB flipping off others while wearing patriot rings ... that's more a Big FU to you Bucco Bruce, than it is to me... I know its hard, but try to think these things through... Maybe find one with chucky in bucs gear?

and if you think its advantage Patriots, you'd be wrong ... again ... i'm sure that's something you are use to by now...

Yeah, I'm sure Belichick, McDaniels and Hoyer did nothing all weekend except drink beer and watch TV. They certainly didn't change the gameplan in the slightest to adjust for the fact that the starting QB has a radically different skillset now versus what they spent 5 days preparing for.

But man that 6th day KC got is certainly going to make all the difference. In fact, wasn't this going to be the first time in NFL history a team played a Sunday game following a Monday game?

Would rather see them play KC in our bye week so Cam can play.....This game should be a sleepwalk for KC.... Hoyer...Pfffttt

The Patriots could not bring the players to the facility. Think they can install a new game plan via zoom? get the offensive unit together, have them walk things thru in their living rooms? yeesh....

If the Pats are lucky... they might have time for a walk thru an hour before the game. Might.

As for the cheefs, the Pats are without their starting qb. Advantage cheefs defense
They get to face Hoyer the Destroyer! Advantage cheefs
And an extra days rest is better than not... Advantage cheefs

Ya gotta do better bucco bruce.

What do you think the coaches did when they found out about Newton's positive test? Say "forget it, guys, it's too late to change the gameplan so we are going to leave it alone"..?

Seriously, now you're just humiliating yourself.

Absolutely, but that's not what we are discussing here.

Sorry not sorry but no. Given the fact that the Patriots found out they had to change their starting QB Saturday morning, being able to use Sunday to prepare changes instead of actually playing on Sunday helps the Patriots.

WTF do you think Belichick and McDaniels did all day Sunday? Play Parcheesi?

Stop being obtuse.

All of the line items are part of the discussion. You dont get to decide where the goal line is, so stop trying to move it to suit your needs.

The Patriots found out - and this might be a difficult concept for you to grasp - on Saturday sure... but at no point have they been able to actually "install" the offense... a 24 hour cramming period offers zero advantages compared to the advantages the cheefs coaching staff gained... Its easier to set a base defense for a guy like hoyer than it is for the offense to install a new offensive plan in a 24 hour period with out practice or walk thrus...

Its not that hard to understand.... even you should be able to grasp this simple concept....

Should be noted that KC played Monday night against the Ravens - this delay helps them a lot simply because they have an extra day of preparations.

Oh, and did I mention that they get the chance to play one of the tougher teams on their schedule without its starting QB?

One benefit we get is if we do face KC later in the season, they wouldn't have any film of Cam from this game. Any wrinkles Bill was planning at throwing them can wait...

I agree. I think there is much to learn from the game today for players and coaching staff and really not much to lose except a game that even in ideal conditions would have had required a lot of things going our way.

This game has the potential to be a huge bonding experience for this team and also gives the rookies and less experienced players a good look at the speed KC plays at.

The discussion is whether or not pushing the game back 1 day helped KC or NE more. Yes it would have benefit the Patriots even more to push the game back a couple weeks but that option was apparently not on the table. Thus there are 2 choices: (1) Play Hoyer on Sunday or (2) Play Hoyer on Monday.

Given the above, pushing back the game from Sunday to Monday helped NE more than it did KC. This is because the Patriots are certainly going to change the gameplan now that a backup QB with a radically different skillset is taking over. Having more time to make those changed helped NE more than the minimal added value in giving KC a 6th day off versus 5. Yes, I understand the Chiefs benefit by facing Hoyer instead of Newton, but if you were smarter, you would see how that is irrelevant to the point I am making because once Cam was diagnosed, the 2 options being discussed at (1) Hoyer on Sunday or (2) Hoyer on Monday. QED.
