I would never boo my man GOAT TFB even with a poor performance in that game. I would however cheer his failure to convert on 3rd down, picks, sacks and other offensive misfortunes vs our D. Please Gisele, do not send your Brazilian hit squad to hunt me down for this.

This seems to hit on what we’re seeing. Brady seems hesitant. Physically when you look at his arm strength, he looks to be more than capable. His mobility doesn’t seem great, but I could see that having more to do with focusing on receivers routes (that hesitation) rather than the pocket.

“I think it’s just comfort. It’s not being comfortable with his receivers – he’s done a great job with that [and] the receivers have done a great job,” Christensen said. “They’ve logged a bunch of hours this offseason and they really didn’t miss their time. I think what it is, is just adjustments. ‘What do I do when this (happens)? What about when they don’t do it quite like what they practiced?’ It’s been impossible to get him every scenario, every situation (and) every look that he could possibly get. Then, all of a sudden someone does something that is un-practiced – you didn’t get a look at it – and where’s his answers? His answers have been one place for 20 years and now, maybe they’re somewhere else.

“I think it’s just getting comfortable with all the adjustments. The base thing – if you sat in three-deep zone, you cooperated, you didn’t disguise and everyone went where they were supposed to go, then we’d be fine. But, it doesn’t work that way. Thanks for posting this. Good insights. This makes sense and is expected especially since there was no off-season or preseason. They also asked Brady to learn all their terminology which he said was intense for him. Hopefully they continue to iron things out. Right now their schedule is set up nicely. Their only really tough games are GB and KC and both are at home. The next time they play the Saints will also be at home as well. They have time to get it all gelled. In the meantime, I think the D can help carry the day especially against the average to below average teams.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see an upset this week.

I doubt it. The Bucs should win this game handedly. The one area of concern would be that team does not have experience playing in high altitude. The pats went to Denver for years and BB knew how to get the team ready.

The fact is that Tom's arm isn't what it used to be. When you watch his mechanics and the way he has to torque his body to get the ball to arrive on time, especially on longer-developing routes towards the sideline, you can see it requires a lot more effort and the ball doesn't quite pop off his hand like it used to. Go watch highlights from 2007-2011 and compare that to 2016-2020.

Unlike Brees/Manning, who suffered an immediate drop-off over the course of 1-2 season(s), Brady's decline in arm strength has been much more gradual, thus the decline doesn't jump out as much. Sort of like greying hairs ... you look at the mirror one day and wonder where they all came from.

I think the (albeit subtle) physical decline could certainly be a contributing factor re: his occasional hesitation and lack of comfort. As arm strength decreases, margin for error shrinks, and timing/decision making has to be absolutely spot-on; even the slightest hesitation can get you in trouble since you won't be able to get the ball to where it needs to go on time ... 10 years ago, with the benefit of a stronger arm, that critical decision-making window is a good bit larger.

Is he still capable of playing well in the NFL? Absolutely. Will his non-physical traits (which have always been stellar) persist and continue to help him? Of course. Do I still think he's a top-10, possibly top-5 QB in today's NFL? For sure. But does he has as much margin for error as he used to? No.

Weird things happen to the Pats in Denver. We will see if that changes for Brady now that he is with TB. As I posted earlier in this thread, Brady is not going to get teams A game the way he did when he was with the Pats. No one sees Tampa as any sort of measuring stick. Would not surprise me to see Denver lay an egg the way Carolina did just because they are ravaged by injuries. The Bucs caught them at the absolute best time.

Get them ready how? By getting them “adjusted”? The Patriots were notoriously horrible in Denver under Belichick. I don’t know what point you’re trying to make here, but the idea a team will struggle in Denver because they don’t have Belichick’s preparation is a bad point.

They won their last 2 in Denver, and in the 2 AFCCGs they lost by one score. Or are you taking a dig at Belichick? And when did I say the Bucs would struggle? I said them not being as familiar with Denver altitude is a CONCERN.

You said BB knew how to get the team ready. That was a house of horrors for the Patriots for years, until Denver was so bad that the Patriots could no longer lose due to the talent gap. Taking a dig at Belichick? I’m pointing out that using the Patriots/Belichick as an example of how to prepare for playing in Denver is a terrible point. I’m sure you understand that.

So in answer to my question, you are in fact just trying to be an ass...got it.

The fact that NE lost several games in Denver does not necessarily mean it was solely because of the altitude. A lot of that had to do with injuries to the OL and WR and poor QB play in those games, especially the 2013 and 2015 AFCCGs. But the fact that Bill has gone into Denver so many times it gives the coaches and training staff a huge edge in how to combat altitude sickness.
