sign everyone to a 1 year deal .... since there is not going to be a season and you're not going to have top pay any of them, it can work out to a comp pick bonanza for the following year

Your tongue might be a bit in your cheek here, but Yeah I wouldn't sign any of the still-available FAs to multi-year commitments either, especially at the price for which some of them (Clowney e.g.) are still expecting/hoping to sign...

Something to consider with Miller is he has played behind some of the worst O-Lines in the NFL his entire career.

The season before last, when he last played, Lamar rushed 210 times for 973 yards at 4.6 yards per clip behind the most horrid offensive line in the NFL and made the Pro Bowl. The following season Obie sold his soul for Tunsil and a new O-Line.

I like this depth signing a lot.

Why is a great QB and RB, Cam and Lamar, still available late in the year? And they can only command the vet minimum? It is like everyone else inside football knows something that we do not. I hope Cam and Lamar are great, and I wish them all the best, but if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I have no idea why these guys were not signed by someone else, but I suspect in due time we will find out there was a good reason, but I hope for the best.
Alright.

Why didn't Tom Brady draw more interest? He did not have that many suitors. What do they know that Tampa missed?

Good players are to be had post roster cut downs. The same concerns could be applied to those guys too.

Tom Brady did not sign for league minimum late in the year. Your parallel is not equivalent. At the league minimum I am confident Tom would have been flooded with offers. Not the same situation as Cam and Lamar.

Bolden is gone and Sony is injured. Why is a depth veteran RB a surprise, or in any way unreasonable. Of course, all our RB's might be healthy all this season, UNLIKELY!.

News of Sony not being ready for week 1 is alarming. Harris. Maybe Miller.

Mmm yeah probably not...Likely just an unexpected need at RB because Soreknee Michelle's boo-boos are still ouchies, and a good RB prior to his devastating injury was available and amenable to a one-year deal for peanuts...No grand vision or chess v checkers thing here...
Whenever the team makes a pick, I want to know his prior injury history first because his talent may be irrelevant.

You’re right and it’s obvious what Tampa missed.

What?

That Brady only had Edelman and White as studs last year. They were the only 2 players worth anything in a trade.

Miller and Cam are not a 6 time Super Bowl winning QBs.

Of course healthy, capable QBs qualify for the NFL highest salaries because thats the way the market is. Cam is returning to the came post Lis Franc surgery and teams are leary about that type of injury.

Maybe I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about TB signing Brady and the Pats letting him go.

Like Gronk, who missed his entire junior season due to the first of his back surgeries before the Pats drafted him.

Which was why he went 42nd overall instead of 21st overall...

How about carrying 30 million over to next year when football is hopefully football once more?

Then the Pats can pick and choose who to keep, who to bring in, etc. Pay Cam if he works out and still have cap space to build a better team around him.

I don't think ACLs are "devastating" injuries anymore with today's medical advances. Its obviously a serious injury when its sustained and derails your season, but they don't really ever have any long term detriments from that type of injury anymore.. pretty cookie cutter procedure and rehab process that leads to a full recovery

Adrain Peterson (granted a freak outlier) came back from his ACL surgery after like 8 months and nearly won the league MVP that year, rushing for over 2000 yards

I think you underestimate the power of 32 billionaires and their desire to make money

They are some of the most powerful, influential people we have in the country.. they'll figure out a way to have a football season

Powerful billionaires tried to kick start your economy as well. Nature beat them too.

Much is in flux - I guess there’ll be lotsa Netflix and TED talk specials to be made in the 2030s about how humanity dealt with Covid.

it's not necessarily up to them........there's a chance the season will start, but it won't finish
