Patriots to sign Lamar Miller

While I expect more from him, I wouldn't call him a bust yet. Rashad Penny is closer to being labeled a bust than him getting beat out by a former 7th rounder for the starting job. That pick by the Seahags was inexcusable.

As much as Michel needs to improve on some aspects of his game, he still rushed for 900+ yards yards and 7 TD's behind a beat up O-line, no TE's or FB. We've seen worse from the likes of No Vision Maroney where teams were putting all their attention on the Pats passing attack, yet still was a JAG running the ball.

However, these injuries are concerning as they may deteriorate him Todd Gurley style.

Fantastic low-risk move. If he's fully healthy, he surely becomes the number one two-way back in the room. Great pass protector, and very durable until that ACL injury. He played behind a weak OL at Texas and still ground out an awful lot of yards with a good average. So main issue is he's almost exactly a year out from his injury - usually not quite enough time to fully regain health from an ACL tear.

At very least puts Michel on notice that he needs to step up here.

As someone who has owned Lamar Miller on his fantasy team. He is always injured but not bad as cheap low risk move I guess. Maybe between him and Burkhead we will get 8 games.

1 Miller already knows the NE offense via BOB.
2 Miller has been dependable only missing 4 games from 2018 - 2015 prior to tearing an ACL last preseason.

Bust is harsh but not looking good for him this season.
What I also think is that BB saw a potential to create something more powerful than the Ravens offense last year. He saw something if perfected could be improbable to stop. I am eagerly anticipating the look and shape of our offense.

Why are we adding more mediocrity to our RB core?

Low risk, possible high reward.

TC Fodder or the real deal?? Stay tuned..

He has not passed his Pats Physical yet...

Cory Dillon, Danny Woodhead, Rex Burkhead -- they don't count in your calculus?

Shhh. You’ll be accused of drinking the Covid.

Great post

Probably our deepest position on the team. Still holding out hope that we see more Harris this year.

Unlikely, we don't have Lamar Jackson and the Ravens had 3 starting quality TEs last year. I don't even think the Ravens will be as good as they were last year, nevermind other teams replicating that

Its called depth. Are you suggesting they go out and spend huge money on some big name RB star, since that seems to have worked out really well for the Rams, Cowboys and countless other teams?

Pats will run the ball much more...

Solid depth pick up and with potential COVID issues the more depth the better.

What's not to like?
As a singular transaction? Nothing really...One of the top RBs still available, although one with a major injury issue, for just a one-year commitment & likely close to the vet minimum...

What's still troubling me is that this is now two consecutive transactions Bill's made to add to position groups - DB & RB - thought to be both the deepest & most talented on the team, while we still have Jack Feckin Squat for quality experienced depth at TE/FB, RT, WR, DT, DE & LB...and a couple of those positions could use More than one addition to them too...

Why is a great QB and RB, Cam and Lamar, still available late in the year? And they can only command the vet minimum? It is like everyone else inside football knows something that we do not. I hope Cam and Lamar are great, and I wish them all the best, but if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. I have no idea why these guys were not signed by someone else, but I suspect in due time we will find out there was a good reason, but I hope for the best.

Mmm yeah probably not...Likely just an unexpected need at RB because Soreknee Michelle's boo-boos are still ouchies, and a good RB prior to his devastating injury was available and amenable to a one-year deal for peanuts...No grand vision or chess v checkers thing here...
