I don't know if cutting Herron is a good idea with our injury concers at OT. I think he will stay, since he can also play Guard to some reports.
If we see more of 4-3 next year i think Wise will stay for DE role or IDL in obv passing situations.

I agree with 47; pretty good I think for this year at this point. Many of the rest is with the expectation of additions. See below for some comments.

1) WR
I have Byrd over Thomas, although I can certainly see Thomas. For me, Thomas is typical PS player.

2) OC
Woodard may or may not be good enough for the PS. We have a center and a high draft choice who was was considered as a starting center by some (Froholdt). Eluemunor is a much better choice.

3) OL
Is Andrews playing? I hope not. In any case, we need to sign another OL, probably an OT.

4) TE
We need to sign a veteran upgrade for Izzo.

5) DL
Murray is a placeholder for an addition, although Coe is likely better.

6) LB
Maluia MAY be worthy of the PS, although I doubt it. In any clem we need to add at least one LB.
=====

BOTTOM LINE
Before all the opt-outs, we needed to sign help at OT, TE, LB, and DT. After the opt-outs, the needs are remarkably the same.

I am so "out of the loop"... So sorry...

so...you're outside looping in?

Honestly with what happened last year we should go 6 receivers.
Harry
Sanu
Edelman
Thomas
Byrd
Gunner
And 3 on the ps

2 or 3 differences with the OP on offense, but lots of them with him on defense...

Good job good Captain.

Hoyer will be cut on Sept. 5th but re-signed after S. Michel goes on IR. With the side agreement, players only need to miss 3 games on IR, and there’s no restriction on the number of players who can be reactivated. JJ Taylor makes the 53 and is the primary KR.

As much as I like Isaiah Zuber, it’s going to be real hard for a rookie WR especially an UDFA to make this team out of camp with no offseason or preseason, so I’m thinking they’ll keep only 5 to start the year plus Slater. Hastings and Zuber have already cleared waivers, so it’s likely they’ll make it to the PS. I’m willing to risk that Thomas will pass waivers as well.

Agree with your Offensive Linemen including Eluemunor being the starting RT. Herron could stick instead of Cunningham. Old friends like L’Adrian Waddle or Marshall Newhouse could make an appearance on the PS as depth.

Like both Wise and Coe if they’re used properly making the 53 but don’t underestimate Bill Murray whose prowess as a kick blocker must make Belichick tingle in places. Greg Bedard has reported on multiple occasions that the coaches think highly of Byron Cowart. With Hightower opting out, the Patriots really need this DL to play a lot stouter than last year.

I like your inclusion of Derek Rivers, but I’m thinking either Caash Maluia or Scoota Harris makes it instead.

Would keep 6 CBs plus Bethel instead of a 9th OLinemen meaning D. Ross or M. Jackson also makes it in addition to Bryant. You just can’t have enough. C. Davis gets cut on the 5th and re-signed after B. King goes on IR.

Yeah I forgot about the new guy MJack...Don't understand this trade...DB is the deepest AND the most talented position group on the team, so we really don't need him...and we could've had him for nothing anyway, so why waste an asset on him then? This better be for absolutely Nothing more than a conditional swap of 6th- & 7th-round picks...

I read somewhere that it was a conditional 7th. If he does not make the team, which is doubtful, we keep the 7th. BB must have liked him coming out of college so when he was announced as "cut", the Pats called and arranged a conditional 7th instead. Lions had nothing to lose. If MJ Sr. could not make the Lions 80 man roster, there is little hope here. I am repeatedly amazed how guys have so much natural talent can not even make an 80 man roster.

You might be onto something here...MJack might've been one of two players Bill was targeting at 162 (Byron Cowart the other) during the 2019 draft, but when Dallas took him at 158 Bill might've then felt that he had to trade up to 159 to ensure he got the other target...

It wouldn't surprise much to see either MJack (if he makes the 53) or SloJuan take more snaps at FS than at CB in an attempt to offset the loss of Harmon, especially when the depth at FS (the rancid Terry Brooks) is compared to that at CB (JCJack, possibly Miles Bryant too)...

I did not realize that the Pats traded up to 159 after MJ Sr. was selected at 158. Good catch. I think you have proved my guess. I also think the picks of Williams and Dugger indicate that the Pats are looking for that type of player. Also we all know that you think the same as BB so it is not surprising you figured it out ;)

The Pats let Harmon go for little in return (and saved the $$s) so they must have had a plan in place. I agree with the guess that it is Williams replacing Harmon.

Bedard has reported numerous times that the Pats like Cowart so it looks like Dallas did us a big favor. Nick Coe, the UDFA, seems to be from the same mold as Cowart (heralded out of HS, all of the physical attributes, hiccuped at college) so maybe he will stick too. For that matter you could argue that Stidham is from that same mold too.

I like you roster. I have a couple of comments.
1) NO IZZO! Seriously, someone will replace him.
2) 10 between WR's and RB's is reasonable. I expect Miller to replace on of the WR's. We use 3 WR's, and need a couple in case of backups and injury. And, we carry a couple on the PS.
3) I expect us to pick up a LB as an upgrade to Rivers.

Yeah I'll have to do an updated projection soon, but I'm trying to hold out until we acquire some more help - Real help - at our positions of Real Need - RT, TE/FB, DT, DE, LB...
