If my kidneys give out, I’m not going to use one of those goofy dialysis machines. No way I’m using one of those goofy pacemakers if my heart stops working properly. I’m a tough guy. I love looking tough. Being seen as tough is much, much better than limiting your droplets and protecting seniors at the grocery store.

And have an obese range BMI, which increases the risk for severe disease. Plus, he could have other conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and hypertension, that we do not know about.

The irony is that the poster thought it would make him look tough when in reality people like him and their vain/narcissistic refusal to help mitigate community spread are a big reason why the US is one of the biggest COVID ****holes.

It sucks for everyone who actually has been doing their part every day.

Let's see here; COVID-19 has known and unknown non-mortality related long term effects. Early evidence strongly suggests that post-hospitalization outcomes for individuals with COVID are not good with significant multi-month multi-system challenges for most individuals who are discharged from a hospital. Since we only have ~7 months of data on COVID at anywhere in the world, there could very conceivably be long term (1-5 year) outcomes that we have no clue about. Discharge =/recovery. And no viral load does not equal recovery for non-hospitalized individuals who were symptomatic.

We have reason to believe that there is likely to be at least some reasonably effective vaccine candidates distributed to the general population in Q2 or Q3 2021. We also know that Cannon is overweight (risk factor) and cancer survivor (major risk factor). We also know that Cannon has made bank (good for him!) so opting out to protect his health for a year against known and unknown risk especially when there is a reasonable probability of mostly normalish play next year seems to be a perfectly reasonable decision.

Cannon had non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Makes complete sense that he would take extra precautions.

My province is on Day 12 of zero cases out of a bit less than one million people. And before that, we had a 10 day streak.... it’s great.

Yes, Newhouse is still available; and Yes he indeed performed better at RT than at LT last season
...In fact, he performed better than Cannon did at RT last season.

We should terminate his contract after 2020...He'll be another year older and another season removed from the last time he was above-average. He's not worth his cap hit now, and he absolutely won't be worth the same hit one year from now either, even at full health.

Old friend Adrian Waddle is the logical choice as an outside replacement...but he first needs to have his torn quad muscle re-examined as well as pass a regular physical.

Newhouse, Demar Dotson & possibly LT Cordy Glenn are other possibilities...

not a huge fan of his... but he's a known quantity... the staff has a good idea of his upside/weaknesses, he'd be cheap, and he knows the offense ( minus any changes made for Cam "Two for Flinching" Newton) and he knows what the organization expects... i think depth is going to be a good thing to have this season

At full health Cannon is a pro bowl level player.

No reason not to bring him to whatever camp will look like next year especially since he gets a full year off. Worst case they cut ties after camp and save between 6.5 - 7 M.

Newhouse should be re-signed.

BTW, what is Andrews waiting for. COVID causes CLOTS!

I didn't want to post an explanation for a third time there, so here is a screenshot of my post from yesterday:


Andrews had to sit out the whole season because of the 6 month course of blood thinners, which is standard for a individual with a pulmonary embolism who lacks a genetic predisposition for clotting. He likely was evaluated by several of the country's top hematologists and pulmonologists, Both after the initial diagnosis and leading up to his clearance to return. If he remained at higher than average risk for another clot, he would still be on blood thinners and would not have been cleared to play, regardless of COVID-19.


PS. One of my board certifications is internal medicine, in case you were wondering if I am talking out of my arse...I leave that for (some of) my football-related posts.

It took almost a month after opting out, but Cannon's home in Wrentham hit the market 8 days ago. #61 is listing his home at $1,106,161.
