Definitely reasonable for him to prioritize his family's health. New borns are at increased risk because of immature immune systems.

These NFL players are super fortunate to be able to get paid 150K "stipend" while sitting out the season.

Most people would not have that type of "stipend" available to them.

he is not leaving any money on the table. the contract rolls over to next year. He wants to spend the time with his family and not in a hotel room for 5 months. And if he takes a chance that is his prerogative. I want to be entertained on Sunday afternoons and I want the pats to win, but not at the price of asking someone to risk his family, rather than wait till next year.
At least he gets $150k for bailing on the team.

Hope he saves his money because he’ll probably be looking for another job elsewhere. And he’ll be lucky to find one.

I imagine that the Venn diagram of people who 1) are mad about players sitting out during a deadly pandemic to protect their family's health and, 2) get mad when a guy misses a game to be at the birth of his child, is a literal circle.

Certainly his choice and his right. Like everyone else, needs to do what he thinks is best for him and his family.

He most certainly is leaving money on the table he is losing 1 year’s salary of a what 5-7 year career? Usually they are paid more at the end of their career then at the beginning, so what 1/5 if their lifetime earnings from football?

That is the informed decision that he made, he is putting his family first before before his 1 mill contract. .

Well it is his decsion to make putting his family before football. I won't critize him for it.

Stupid game? That's how he makes his money! He can live in a hotel or rent for a few months. He's leaving a lot of money on the table.

Quite frankly.. who gives a **** ? It is just money. There will always be more opportunities to make some down the line.

His health and that of his family ? That's the most important thing.

I want salary cap relief for Cannon...NFW his 2020 contract should count against our cap if he chooses not to fulfill it.

Then again...the Queefs would also get a bunch of relief because of Dr LDT's opting-out...

Some obsess over money as if its the only thing that matters in this world.

Someone close to me shared a story about how they lost everything they had twice, in intimate detail... and he said it helped him realize how worthless everything really is as far as money and material possessions. Everything can be replaced, and money can always be earned, but you only get 1 life.

Don't get to take any of that money with you either when you die

Exactly you wouldn’t care how much money you had if you brought this thing home to your 70 year old mother and she caught it and you had to live the rest of your life knowing you could have had her alive for another 10-25 years if you were willing to sacrifice a bit. Because everyone will get through this
