Cannon Opts out [Update 9/4: Home listed for sale]

Tough, but not surprising. Completely understand Cannon’s decision.

Too bad Jason Peters is off the market. May be time for Cajuste or Froholdt to step up from last years class. Any FA tackles left on the market? Dotson?

He has a valid excuse. Unlike Vitale.

Unfortunately for Cannon, I think this will be the last we see him.

Smart man. Lots more players should opt out. Force the NFL to get its head out of its azz and cancel the season. They'll never be able to complete the season. What'll happen in the NFL will make what's going on in MLB look like nothing.

Hopefully Cajuste can step up at RT.

Another possibility is that if Onwenu plays well at OG he could allow Thuney to move to OT.

May as well just cancel sports forever because this virus is never going to go away.

Absolutely unsuprising and for Cannon definitely the right decision. He has made enough money in his career that the risk is not worth it. And since the contract tolls its not like he gave it all up but just pushed it back a year.

Suddenly having Thuney at whatever price makes all the sense in the world.

Cannon might be considered a "vulnerable" population, this makes perfect sense and probably best for him and his family.

He has made $30,000,000+ while a Patriot hopefully he had good advice and made good financial decisions, should be set for life.

Completely get it. He certainly needs to take care of himself. Linemen further really cannot socially distance as they play the game.

Marshall Newhouse available for depth?

maybe he's better on the right than left side... lol

Frees up enough cap space to get Clowney...hm. Wish Cannon well, freeing up the cap space for the team, might not be a bad thing.

On the field, Cannon was 36th in the league among tackles in pressures allowed (34). He’s been inconsistent for awhile.

The future of the team would be served well if Cajuste can seize the starting job. They can sign a vet for depth & competition.

Unfortunately Cannon had some bad luck with various injuries in the past. He is a legit pro bowl level tackle when healthy, though.

Given that they had Snacks Harrison on a visit 1-2 weeks ago I would keep my eyes much more on interior guys.

If Clowney ever hits the value sweetspot by dropping his financial demands and nobody signs him before us then he'd be an interesting player even if he tends to get uphill too much and not set the edge as well as lesser players. But certainly wouldn't hold my breath for that.

David Andrews should hang them up (unfortunately) as well.
