Josh Gordons super bowl ring for sale

A guy is selling something that he owns and people are trashing him?

I mean maybe it will mean more to whoever Buys it than him. I look at it as like a divorced woman selling her old wedding ring. NBD.

The only person Gordon has ever hurt is himself, that’s someone that is very easy to be forgiving to.

Will he regret selling it? You bet. Is it something to trash him over? Nope.

That is an extremely harsh way too easy judgement to make on someone
who has a serious medical issue and/or issues. Way too easy to think someone can just
take medicine to alter behavior ... often that medicine causes other horrible problems.

My 2 cents .......

Gordon has been coddled and enabled his entire NFL career which when summed up amounts to a joke. Dude is ungrateful.

Sickening when so many retired NFL players who sacrificed and did all the right things will never have a Super Bowl ring representing the fruits of their labor.

Half the posters here want to burn a spliff with him.

I honestly don't care that he is selling his ring and anybody that does needs to think about things that matter. Gordon can do anything he wants with the ring.

I have less sympathy for him & his "illness" (which is in reality closer to a predilection-turned-weakness) than most, but seriously the league should not be testing for Any non-PEDs At All.
...Max McGee had one of the greatest performances for a WR in championship history, and he was playing hung-over because he got himself sh!t-faced the night before...

If you're unreliable and/or unproductive, then I don't really care what the reason is for that, you're gone...If you're reliable and productive, then I don't really care what you consume - as long as it isn't juice - you can stay...

I'm not sure who is more mentally ill, the guy with clear substance abuse issues or the judgmental people excited to trash him for it.

That's similar to the treatment that Antonio Brown received from fans here, only Brown's problems could be concussion related and not an addiction. Then there's the steroid users. Do they get a break from criticism?

This is why I liked sports much better when the stories were about the games much more and the player's personal lives much less. The same goes for how much they make. I simply don't care.

In the end, we all root for the laundry and are stuck with whatever player wears our team's colors. Some of us aren't all that enthused about having to root for Cam Newton, but we will.

I think our reactions can be determined by the image of the former player selling the ring. I have sympathy for a guy like Gordon.

For falling off the wagon and stepping away from football to focus on his issues? He was going to be suspended either way.
Lol yeah he "stepped away" he didn't step away he got suspended.

Guys who get suspended a million times for drugs/booze etc don't "fall" off the wagon; they knowingly and willfully take a flying ****ing leap off the wagon...

LOL some of these posters here would jump off a cliff for belichick. It’s pathetic

guy can do what he wants.

You really need to seriously educate yourself on mental illness and addictions.
First of all ... there is no rational or logic to any of it ... because it is a disease.
Someday if you have dementia can we ask you to fall out of that?

The only “disease” you can somewhat give yourself is lung cancer.

I am just amazed whenever I see someone trying to rationalize mental illness.
Like it is some random option or has a switch ...
Or that money and fame or being a great athlete should make someone less likely to have it.
Bottom line is like many diseases ... it's not a choice .

So everyone who abuses drugs has mental health issues?

So everyone who abuses drugs has mental health issues?
Some do ... some have other issues and self medicate.
Some self medicate because the drugs intended to help them are worse.
Not everyone can be treated with proper medication ...
I mean if you or anyone else really doesn't know then research it.
Alcoholism ... drug dependency ... self medication ... it's a huge topic.

Drug dependency like alcoholism can run and does run in families.
Money ... masculinity ... being an alpha athlete male ... none of it matters.
Also ... did I type 'EVERYONE' or you adding it .. because I did not type it previous to now.

Eating at McDonald's every day might lead to more than a few diseases, no?

Figured the “addiction is a disease” folks would come swarming in. Wasn’t disappointed. Apparently personal accountability, countless second, third, forth, fifth chances mean nothing. Just blame the “disease”
