Brissett thinks Bill made him practice after being traded

Maybe I am reading this in the wrong tone but it sounded more like a funny story to tell than some kind of thinly veiled attempt at stirring the pot or snitching

Bustsett needs the practice.

Wonder if Bill regrets not choosing Dak Prescott instead of Jacoby...there might not have been any need for a Stidham-Newton competition...or we at least receive more in return for him than Phil Dorsett...

Bills notorious for not believing a trade has been made until all the i's have been dotted and T's crossed. Who knows how many trades have fallen through, we wouldnt even hear about them.

A lot of crap in this thread.

Imagine you're someone with tiny hopes of accomplishing a dream. You'd be annoyed too if you thought someone else was being a little haphazard with those dreams. The moment Jacoby got traded his loyalty to the company was over - as would be the case with anyone whose company let them go.

He has every right to be annoyed w/ Bill just like Bill had every right to prioritize not disrupting practice until everything had been finalized.

More and more I'm seeing this board overrun with loud voices who have a startling lack of basic freaking empathy.

Jacoby has an agent. If there truly is something “shady“ that needs to be brought to public attention, the agent should release that info.
If it is common practice to do what BB did (wait for the trade to become official) Then the agent would understand this and explain it to Jacoby. No need To bring this up now. And absolutely no need to use the word “shady” unless you want BB to get negative attention.

He had every right to feel however he felt about it. My issue isn't with that, it's bringing it up 3 years later, after he got his $30 million contract and calling it 'Bill's shady ****'.

Why do all of these conversations seem to get framed around this imaginary scenario where the player is outside of Gillette on a hunger strike or something?

He gets asked questions about his time in NE, answers honestly, and fans interpret it as a player rushing to the media to air grievances.

Makes no sense, if he’s injured the deal is off.

There goes Brissett’s chances of ever playing for the Pats again. I was thinking he may get cut by the Colts and would be a smart pickup by the Pats. But that was before Cam became a Patriot. BTW, is Cam a Patriot yet ?

Did he have an agent? Because at one point he didn’t.

wait a minute...i thought brissett didn't want to be drafted by the pats. now he says he didn't want to be traded by the pats. ok...so what does jacoby want.

-He said he didn't want to be drafted by the Pats given that we had the GOAT and a possible heir apparent in front of him.
-He said he felt like it was shady to make him practice - and risk injury - after having traded him.

These things are, in no way whatsoever, incompatible.

It's very common for players not to want to be traded because who wants to uproot their life and move somewhere without any say?

Also - I'd have to go back and re-read the article but I don't think he said he didn't want to be traded. He probably welcomed it given he clearly wants to start.

But I mean, why employ the modicum of critical thinking it takes when you can drop a hot, surface-level take?

Revis called Belichick a jerk. Without even looking I'd bet all my bitcoin that Patriots All-Time Great James Harrison had some choice comments about Spygate and Deflategate.

Unlike fans, Bill is an adult and a pragmatist who very clearly prioritizes what is best for the team over hurt feelings over the big mean words said by people.

If Jacoby could help the team in the future and is available at a price that reflects a good value Bill Belichick would bring him.

I think Belichick would bring in Mangini and Goodell if it would help the program. He cares about wins.

Makes perfect sense. This is a coach who puts all-time great TEs on the PAT team.

Practices are limited in number and for a team like the Patriots makes them a highly valuable commodity. Belichick does the math. The chances of Jacoby getting injured were minimal enough to justify the minor risk while not disrupting one of his chances to run his team through practices.

That's fine. I just object to 'Bill's shady ****' because that's consciously feeding in to the same dammned meme.

No backup quarterback (who doesn't play in games) should complain about having to practice when they are perfectly healthy.

I’m assuming he really wanted some alone time with that smoothie and that finding out from your phone you have been traded was harder than practice. What does the third stringer get like two snaps?

You think he would have him practice after the deal was done? I don’t at that point having the deal go through, assuming you like the deal, is more important than some reps that could easily covered.
