Jacoby Brissett tells elaborate, eye-opening story about trade to Colts

“It was after the last preseason game, and the bad thing was I balled (in that game). I was like, ‘I know I’m making the team. It’s going to be hard for them to cut me.’ I really felt like I played my best game at that point, and I was playing my best football at that time throughout training camp and stuff,” Brissett said, transcribed by NESN’s Zack Cox. “I think Bill did some shady sh-t. I think they traded me right before practice and still made me go out there and practice.”

Great there goes another draft pick.

Already been discussed on here...trades are always pending a physical and this is SOP. In fact it would be of negative benefit to Bill...if Brissett got injured, the trade would be off. Bill was apparently willing to take a small risk, which I assume is something coaches/GMs do all the time.

Jacoby doesn't know the very basic principles of a trade. His interview is rather embarrassing in trying to dig to find foul play where there is none, not by any stretch.

What am I missing? If he stays here he is a third stringer. Instead he gets traded to the Colts, makes 30 starts and gets a 2 year $30 million contract with $20 million guaranteed.....

But is football still fun for him... that's the burning question. :coffee:

So he is complaining about going to the Colts and starting not one but two seasons to the tune of $30 mil? Isn't he the highest paid back up this year?

What makes me sad about this is the fact that in it's entirety, AI was actually grieving the loss of a very very close friend that was like family to him. But BSPN being BSPN, they rarely ever play the full clip or mention that the version they play is part of something deeper.

While I agree with your point, you don't even need to contextualize that to make Iverson look like he's in the right. It's one of the greatest examples of athletes putting the media in their place.

I'm not sure what he's mad about. So he got traded right before the season started

.

Why does he seem so salty? Surprised he hasn't just frivolously called Bill "racist" yet.

Probably because the Colts suck in every way possible. Even being a back up here would have been better than playing for Irsay. Can't say I blame him for that.

I can't speak for Jacoby, but football is fun for us Pats fans now...or so we're told:

I don't know if I speak for anyone else here, but for me, the extreme dominance of the Brady Patriots took some of the fun away from watching the game. First the 2007 team unleashed a wave of cartoonish super-villainy on the league, then the 2011 - 2017 teams made 37 - 13 wins and trips to the AFCC game feel like a birthright. I lost my tolerance for anything short of assured destruction of the AFC.

This made 2019 (and most of 2018) particularly hard to watch. At the center of it was watching Brady as his emotions range from distant to pissed off to dejected. There is that story floating that Brady checked out in Pittsburgh in 2018. Remembering back to that game - his body language, all the balls he threw away - and comparing it to 2019, it seems about right. His last half-season was awful to watch.

At some point during the dynasty's second act, Brady became bigger than the team. I would cite the unveiling of the Brady mega-flag outside Gillette at the beginning of 2016 as the catalyst, and 28 - 3 sealed the deal by justifying GOAT status. As great a year as he had in 2017, things were never the same after 2016. The persistent drama over Jimmy G and Gurrero and TB12 and Gronk and the house and the contract reached such levels it sometimes felt more like early 90's WWE than the NFL. Brady deserves to be revered forever in this region, but it's ok to admit that the last few years (outside of those 2018 playoffs) kinda sucked.

Looking ahead, I am thrilled at what 2020 will bring. The Newton signing leaves the rest of the league clueless of what a Patriot offense will look like. Earlier this year we talked about the positionless defense, well we now have (to some extent) a positionless offense. Two WRs that can also pass, two WRs that can also run, an RB who doubles as a receiver, a FB who can catch, a TE who can play h-back, quarterbacked by one of the most explosive athletes ever to play the position. McDaniels and the Belichicks are going to sceme like mad scientists, and it will be thrilling to watch it unfold.

I have no idea if this team is going to go 6 - 10 or tear through the league and hoist #7, both seem equally likely. I am more excited about this team, not their chances per se, but at the prospect of watching a football game every week for 16 - 20 weeks, than I have been for years.

While at the same time beat guys were giving stories of him having massive accuracy issues and expecting him not to make the 53.

I guess he needs to have a lot of confidence to be able to be a QB but it seems like most people around him knew what was going on long before he did.

I like Jacoby... but IMHO...

I confess "$hady $h-t" Belichick does have a certain ring to it.

When did Brissett turn into a whiny *****?

When did Brissett turn into a whiny *****?

Apparently when he started wearing a picture of a toilet seat on his helmet.

Colts or C***ts?

When did Brissett turn into a whiny *****?
The moment he walked into the same building into which their owner walks.

As Dwayne Allen & Phil Dorsett very ably demonstrated, it's extremely difficult to completely wash away all of the nasty, filthy, rancid Indy Clots stench from their former players.

Don’t forget Reggie football isn’t fun anymore Wayne

Yep...they're all a bunch of coddled feckin puzzies over there...Small wonder they only managed one banner even while Park Avenue & the "Competition" Committee were trying to gift-wrap one every damn year for them, starting in 2004...
