Cam Newton already working out with Mohamed Sanu days after signing with Patriots

Let's face it, now that he is not on the team, Brady doing this is bad, and Cam Newton doing it, now that he is on the Pats (did I just write that? is this the Twilight Zone?) is good. Argument settled.

On a serious note, two guys working on passing routes and timing, and staying far apart, wearing gloves, doesn't bother me, but a whole offense, or group working close together obviously violates the rules. I'm actually surprised at Brady saying there is nothing to fear but fear itself. That is obviously not true, particularly in FL, where COVID is raging. Shame on him if he had a whole bunch of people there, and I think I would say the same thing if it was happening in Foxboro.

If they are working out in groups maskless now or beginning in 4-6 weeks what is the difference?

If the numbers don't go down, none. It's a dumb move in both instances.

no offense but I’ve had to get these nasal swab tests every 2 weeks as a healthcare worker.....and they are exactly as one guy posted....extra long cue tips inserted WAY UP into the sinus cavity....spun around 4-5 times and then held there for approximately 5 seconds.....it is extremely unpleasant....but are probably still most accurate. I know they were talking about a slightly shorter one that is slightly hooked at end that may not be as uncomfortable....but didn’t think they were out yet. Just make sure you were tested correctly or it is useless. I think the way that nasal test is being done without consistency may be one of problems with accurate covid numbers....hope you all stay healthy and safe! Go Pats!!!

We (wife and I) got tested yesterday. It was a swab inserted 1.5" up one nasal cavity. Hardly the horror show being propagated.

Get over yourself and grow up.

Nice graphics thanks

I think it's brilliant. Brady and crew get Covid 19 now, build up antibodies and rip through the season while the rest of the teams are juggling players off and on the sick list.

where'd you get this "test", Wal-Mart quik lane? The proper test is the swab, inserted all the way up the nasal cavity and then turned four times, followed by the the same procedure on the other side. It IS uncomfortable and irritating. Stop trying to put others below your superior "manliness" for whatever idiotic subtext you're propagating today.

I don't think I'm the one with an agenda here.
We went to the drive through being run by a well respected medical practice. Part of the regional testing system. The nurse came to the window, showed us the test kit, and said, "I'm going to put this up one of your nostrils about 1.5 inches, spin it around twice, and pull it out, then put it in this. It will take about 4 seconds total. OK? We said yes, she did it, it was mildly irritating but not dramatically so, and we were done.
Results came back today, via text.

I believe that test is relatively new. My friend got tested in May and said it feels like it touches your brain.

Might be. Certainly wasn't a big deal.

I hope they were negative. Were you tested because you aren't feeling well, or just as a precaution?

Not even remotely saying that you were driving an agenda (I know not directed at me) but if they inserted swab only 1.5 inches into nasal or sinus cavity they didn’t do test correctly. Again I get tested within every 2 week period because I am on front lines of health care work and test is VERY deep into sinus cavity and swab spun 4-5 times and then held in place at least 5 seconds usually longer....and that is most accurate test from research thus far. Test is only as good as clinician . If you are not essential front line worker....no big worry unless you have symptoms. If you are essential, or health care worker....YOU MUST be tested properly!!!!!

I don't think I'm the one with an agenda here.

there's no arguing the TRUTH with this jerk, STC...he ALWAYS wants to look down his his nose at everybody else, always claiming the high moral certitude on every topic he belches his idiocy on. For every fan here who wants to be sure they are being tested correctly, please do your homework. Don't listen to agenda driven morons like this.

Let’s goooo

Thanks. Yes, both wife and I had an illness that didn't match the most common COVID symptoms, but did match some of the lesser ones. Using video, the doc said he was 85% sure it was something else, but it was still important to get tested. So we did.

Negative result, which was good (I think? Part of me wants to have gotten COVID, if it was a week of inconvenience and misery, but not damaging.)

Sounds like a well respected medical practice with a very high false-negative test rate.

Given the concerns expressed here for my well-being, and the need for myself and everyone to be up to date on this topic, I did some research (called the physicians practice that administered the test, plus read up on the latest news on the subject).

The result: the testing process is evolving.
  1. It started with the long swab nasal PCR test, requiring that samples be taken from the back of the nasal passages. This is the "brain tickler" that most have had and is still the most common test being used.
  2. There is now a PCR test that only requires samples from the middle of the nasal cavity. It could even grab a sample from just inside the tip of the nostril but people tend to touch that area with fingers a lot so they go up in a bit to avoid that contamination problem. This is now being used in those medical settings that have access to it - often larger hospital systems that can get early access through their buying cooperatives. It is gradually replacing the long swab.
  3. Also available is a fecal test, but that's not as popular for obvious reasons. It is being used a lot however to measure community virus load (one of my scientist clients has had her entire lab refocused in support of this need).
  4. Next up is a saliva test, to be available as early as September. We'll then be able to get tested by just spitting into a cup. That may arrive before the long swab has been fully replaced by the shorter swab.

What seems to be the case is that organizations don't want to buy the new one if they still have the old one in stock, or have already committed to buying more of the old one, by contract. It is a cost control and supply chain issue. Some organizations aren't high enough up in the food chain to get access to it. Normal challenges.

The only issues is, you can get it again. There is no proven immunity yet with this virus. This is why I think it is certain that no pro sports will happen this season.

either way, it doesn't really matter since there's not going to be a season
I agree. I think a season is an extremely optimistic thing to hope for. We're not even close to out of the woods yet. and the pandemic COVID is being compared to, the Spanish Flu, ravaged the world for 3 years. We've learned something from the Spanish Flu, but clearly not enough. This is going to take... awhile.
