Cam has five losing seasons out of nine and last year he was 0-2 before going on IR so that makes 3 winning seasons out of 9. He is hardly synonymous with winning.

His coach is though. I like Cam’s chances here if he stays healthy.

I guess a scum bag elitist prick of an owner (in practice, idgaf what the pr team puts together for him) doesn't stop you?

Due process and procedural legalities only matter if your family has generational wealth to throw at a legal team, right?

Thanks for your input, Adolf

can we get back to football now?

Except that he had the best preseason of any Patriots first year QB under Belichick -- and a far better preseason than Mallett ever had.

well.....that counts

a little

no.....wait.......it doesn't count at all

Good thing wins aren't a QB stat. It's 2020 @amfootball

2019 Patriots Comparison:

9th best run blocking OL and 5th best pass protecting OL per Football Outsiders.

2019 Patriots Leading Rushers: Sony Michel with 912 yards, Rex Burkhead with 302 yards, and James White with 263 yards.

2019 Patriots Leading Receivers: Julian Edelman with 100 rec and 1,117 yards and James White with 72 rec and 645 yards (nobody else had more than 29 recs by Dorsett).

=============================================

Conclusions I am drawing (or pulling outta my arse):

- Relative to the 2019 Patriots' OL, Cam Newton has never had a better offensive line to operate behind in the NFL.

- Other than CMC during the 2018 season, Cam Newton has never had a 100 reception receiver (Edelman had 100 last year as the sole option most of the time).

- Other than CMC during the 2018 season, Cam Newton has never had a RB catch more than 70 passes (James White had 72 receptions last year as the obvious passing down back and option #2).

- Other than CMC during the 2018 season, Cam Newton has never had a 100 reception receiver (Edelman had 100 last year as the sole option most of the time).

To be fair his record with Steve Smith looks pretty great with more than 3300 yards over 216 receptions in 3 years. Pretty much what Edelman would have had with Brady if that suspension hadn't shortened his year in 2018.

Interesting fact:

For this season bb is paying cam less than what auburn paid cam back in college!

Has the board come to acceptance yet that Cam will be the Pats week 1 starter?

All last season we heard the excuses for the terrible QB play as a lack of weapons.

Didn’t stop Cam from going to the SB with even worse weapons. Like throwing to the shell of Jerricho Cotchery.

Huh. A QB figures out what to do with what he has. Weird.

Has the board come to acceptance yet that Cam will be the Pats week 1 starter?

Injury. No week one ever occurs due to COVID. Stidham absolutely kills in practice and games. Too many variables and fortune telling isn't something many are good at.

If Cam were a slam dunk cinch to be a star with no turnovers and 40 touchdown passes, he would not have been available at the end of June for the veteran minimum.

BB and McDaniels have taken a flyer on him and introduced a bit more competition into TC. Nothing wrong with that at all. If expectations are kept reasonable for Cam this year, he could be a pleasant surprise.

I still think Stidham will be the main guy and starts on Day 1, but Cam will come in at the goal line and in certain situations to introduce an unpredictable running threat.

The key question is can he adapt to being a team first unselfish player and not sulk when he is not playing. If he can, we have the jumbo version of Taysom Hill.

Dunno....a QB like Brady needs weapons to make plays...whereas a QB like Cam can produce yards by running and hitting guys way downfield late off his back foot.

Just different animals entirely....I'd put my money on Cam in a foot race or a wrestling match vs. Brady.

Dubious distinction, given Kraft is the player's employer, and team success quite obviously translates to success for Kraft far more directly than team success equates to individual player success.

If you dropped the second "m" from your handle, it would atleast provide us some warning.
obvious distinction..but maybe you aren't that bright

Because if there is anyone whoever knows what they're doing it's the other AFC East coaches.
Colin Cowherd had two AFC East coaches on his list of 10 coaches he would hire if he bought an NFL team, and BB wasn't one of them

Why? We basically have 3 back ups. Any one of them could be the starter. Bill finally has his plug and play offense. Going to be a brutal season if it happens

Give into the hate and join us.

that line "Can we get back to football now/please?" is sort of a prequel to my earlier Camilton "The Election of 1800" riff... as hear in the intro below

Reminds me of Kramer seeing how close to empty he can run the tank without running out of gas.
