What are the potential comp pick effects of the signing?

It might be nice
It might be nice
to have Cam Newton on our side

Every action has an equal opposite reaction
Tom Brady flew the coop, I love the guy, but [expletive redaction]
Poor Jarrett Stidham, right about to see some action
Just as that other Newton's finally not in traction

- He's very attractively priced, Bill Belichick likes the number
- you've gotta believe opposing Ds would bring the lumber
- Jarrett Stidham can't go through the motions in semi-slumber
and expect to waltz into the job unencumbered...

Etc.

Come on guys, @Ice_Ice_Brady isn't responsible for your White fragility, he's just trying to do what's right.
Blaming every white person for anything any other white person ever did is doing what’s right?
Isn’t that kind of textbook racism?

The board right now:

“I’m not so sure Newton will start”

The board mid season:

“Is it possible Newton accepts a team friendly extension?”

No, but your reaction is textbook White fragility.

Too many negative posts regarding this signing on here. I for one like the move.
I think Cam can be a complete douch bag at times but there is no denying his talent. Yes he is coming off an injury so there is an unknown but he is only 31. Our own GOAT QB missed an entire season at the age of 30 and then gave us 10 more amazing seasons after that so Cam could come back and play well after an injury too.
This move also screams 'ego', that's Bills ego, he does not want this team to fail post Brady ( everyone will have a field day )and he might just realize that Stidham isn't ready or that Stidham needs the competition to push him. As much as some of us feel that tanking for Lawrence is great, it will never happen as long as Bill is in charge, He wants everyone to think he made Brady and not the other way round, he also is chasing wins ! This move will make the team better whether Cam starts or it makes Stidham better. Its a win, win for the Patriots !

Just hoping he comes in healthy. If he does, things are going to be fun to watch. Will be super interested how the running game reacts to his gameplay. I’m also interested to see how he works with the receivers. His scrambling ability should create a bunch of wide open looks. Something the Pats had trouble with last year. Should be interesting for sure. Anyone else getting excited for the unknown?

Zero impact.

Kraft Sports bozos filming the Bengals on the other hand..

Bill and Josh need to work with Cam if he becomes the starter on how to better protect himself and change his game somewhat. Nothing wrong with scrambling, but alot of his injuries are just due to taking big hits that he has no reason to take.

Alot of Bradys longevity is knowing when to take a hit and when to call it a day.

Either way, this move makes the season more exciting as a patriots fan. The possible ceiling with Newton is much higher.

An Open Letter to Cam Newton

June 29, 2020

Dear Cam,

Welcome to "Beantown". This is home to many past sports heroes like Bill Russell, Fred Lynn, Mo Vaughn, Paul Pierce, and Troy Brown.

First, let me apologize for many of the negative things that have transpired in the past with great men like Adam Jones, and Torii Hunter. I speak on behalf of white people in Patriots Nation in personally apologizing for being a part of the great problem, and we will all strive to do better at being the change we wish to see in the world.

I hope that you will find your stay with the New England Patriots to be pleasant, and most importantly, know that we root for our players through thick and thin. Whether or not you score touchdowns or win games, know that you are appreciated.

Patriots Nation is as diverse as it gets; we have fans all over the world in various countries like Africa, Nigeria, and the great People's Republic of Cuba.

For now, though, it's time to dance!!! I am greatly looking forward to doing the endzone wiggle when you score your first touchdown (if you do - if you don't, it's okay because you are always welcome in New England no matter what.)

With Great Sincerity,
Patriots Nation!!!
A serious W-T-F....holy cow

Newton choked big time in the super bowl. Not only the fumble, but many other plays.

Manning was done in that game and the Broncos beatable.

That Broncos defense was one of the 10 best defenses in the last 25 years or so. You're being disingenuous.

Brady's dead money is more than all 5 QBs cap hits currently on the roster, combined.

FWIW-
Newton in SB 50 55.4 passer rating
Brady in AFCCG- 56 passer rating

Shows the kind of defense that they had. Hard to call either QB game a choke.

Seriously, that defense and especially Von Miller was absolutely unstoppable. Peyton could barely throw the ball 15 yards as this point and had a lackluster super bowl.
