1. While his personality has grated on me at times, clearly he is a talented player. Adding more talent to the QB position is never bad.

2. Very interesting QB competition. IMO Bill intends to have Cam and Stidham compete for the starting spot with no guarantees (surprising since I believe Cam wanted a starting gig but it probably became obvious at this point that that was not gonna happen and he would need to compete). I look forward to seeing who wins the battle.

3. Money - where did the money come from? They only had like $3m last I checked, I am guessing they would need to create a decent bit of space for this move. Thuney at risk? Others? Something has to happen.

Overall excited to add a talented player at the most important position and a unique person. He will probably annoy me sometimes but he will keep things interesting and all eyes on NE (if they weren’t already). Will he and Bill get along? It’ll be funny to see those two guys somehow become great friends against all expectations.

Would be really be something if Cam bounces back, ends up the starter and leads the Pats into the playoffs. More enjoyable than a 8-8 season under Stidham.

@Ian, please awared @primetime some award for this around, are you sure he is not BB?
edit @sb1 was advocating for signing Newton, his post does not read so i think, based on taking just his post.
Hey this is just history in real time and it is only for fan. I hope no one uses this to insult anybody. Any of you want a redo? Cam has not made the team yet but just bringing him here is huge. It has surprised me as well as I did not see it at all. BB is incredible. Just when you think you know the man, he comes at you with logic.

Newton has basically no leverage. If he wants to play football this year and not just backup someone, the Patriots are the only chance left. Patriots would have to make space but it's probably a lot less than they would have had to make back in March.

I think Mayfield is on his way to doing that before Stidham does

Love the signing but still hope Stid emerges victorious as QB1.

That said Newton is a fantastic QB, when healthy. I've always been an enormous fan from a personal standpoint. He's so dynamic.

I'm very happy. Our QB situation isn't clear but we have solid contenders. Behind this OL & D I think we could easily compete for the division. Here's hoping our RB Corp steps up big time bc there's potential there. Better than what we've seen.

If you don't like Cam, that's fine. I'd suggest getting used to the fact of a QB with mobility though. That said please don't make **** up like he has "character issues/concerns".

Great signing. QB room is better even if situation is murky. Backup QB might be the most important position on the roster considering how often we see them during a season.

My post was not about Cam it was about tanking.

I'm pretty happy but understand some not being happy. Question: Is Cam enough to make this a 10 win squad? With our defense and coaching taken into consideration

For the first time we have a cam on the field and Goodell can't do crap about it ...lmfao

Nothing better that creates progress is solid competition.
We don’t even know what Stidham can do. He has not proven anything yet at this point.

It's a perfect place for a rehab year for him...image wise and to shake the injury bug. It'll be interesting to watch if they play.

Good competition for Stid. If he's healthy this is a great signing. Also, it's good to see the Patriots are all in on the BLM movement with this signing. Hopefully it's a prelude to bringing Kaep on board.

Can he re-capture his Cat like quickness?

Hate this move ....Cam the sham is a self absorbed locker room disease. He has no guts or toughness and is on backside of career....only positive is since it’s only 1 year deal can cut his worthless azz after preseason.....now I’ll tell u how I really feel
