Robert Alvarez

Asante Samuel tweets claim that he helped make Bill Belichick "understand the corner position better"during his Patriots tenure.

Samuel is still bitter at BB for letting him walk in FA. Even if a player has no desire to sign with their former team, they take it as a slap in the face if that team doesn’t even attempt to negotiate with them.

I don’t think BB taught DB’s to day dream on the last drive of the Super Bowl and leave your teammate (Rodney Harrison) out to dry.

Had he just been in the vicinity of Tyree, Manning probably holds the ball, gets sacked and Pats most likely are the best team of all time.

Yeah, given that he won two SBs as a defensive coordinator for the Giants by the time Asante was 10 years old I am going to go with "hell naw!".

Coaches note: "OK, Cornerbacks should not drop the ball during the biggest football game ever. Boy, did I learn something about coaching cornerbacks."

I wonder if it was a learned skill to let the ball go thru his hands in the final drive of the freakin' super bowl. No? Fine. How about a warm glass of STFU.

Still remember Asante at the 2007-08 Pro Bowl mic’d talking into the camera about how he “Was gonna get paid. That’ll show them!”

Most players understand at the end of the day it’s a business. Asante never quite grasped that concept.

I bet BB uses footage of him to teach players how not to tackle

I actually used that tactic with Manny Ramirez lowlites when I was coaching youth baseball. It worked.

One of Worst signings ever. FOR THE EAGLES.

Pats got every ounce of his good career here on the cheap despite the drop. PHILLY was expecting lockdown and got so so instead.

Don’t understand the hate. He was great for us. A ball hawk nightmare for opposing QBs. He completely outsmarted a peak Peyton Manning for a pick six in an afc title game

The problem was not so much the drop, as it was a very hard catch to make, it was on the following play, the helmet catch, that he gave up and did not play to the whistle.

Asante's last year here was 2007 and the cornerback situation was its worst under BB from 2008 - 2013.

If Revis made this claim it would have at least some teeth.

I always wondered if AS was partially welcomed to take his act out of town because of the off the field lifestyle he enjoyed with TB12.

Much like the Celtics breaking up 2 wild and crazy guys and trading Rick Robey out of town.

FYI- Samuel has a son playing DB at FSU.

Would BB double dip in the Samuel gene pool?

He couldn’t tackle & made it clear he didn’t want to improve.

It wasn't a "drop."

And even if he had somehow came down with the ball, he would've landed OOB anyway.

Rodney's near-pick at the 2:00 warning & Stomper's over-the-shoulder miss shortly after the helmet catch were easier INTs to make than A$ante's was.

Don't forget Fonzie Dennard (7th round 2012)...For a couple of years, he was one of Bill's best value picks of the last decade.

I especially liked Asante's coverage on Ricky Proehl's SB38 game-tying catch. Taught Bill perfect form on that one.

Regards,
Chris
