OT: Am I the only one who doesn't miss sports?

Pro sports? I miss hockey.

Amateur? I miss watching my daughters play high school lacrosse. Their spring season was lost and summer tournaments are still a bit up in the air.

The NHL really missed an opportunity to expand its fanbase by not finding a way to run playoffs during the lockdowns. Should have found a venue and a reasonable means of quarantining players through the whole thing.

MLBoring ball was a joke anyway. Juiced players and juiced balls.

NBA basketball has sucked since the days of Bird, Jordan and Magic.

NHL is still good. The Stanley Cup is a must watch.

The NCAA basketball tourney is the best playoff format in all sports imo.

I'm with you all. Baseball was just something to have on the radio in the background occasionally when doing chores; audiobooks have picked up the slack. And I actually skipped the whole NFL draft season this year, after decades of it being a huge focus of mine. I found I just couldn't care and had more important things to think about.

Looking ahead, what I'm most sad about is the likely absence of college games (or at least live fans), not because I watch but because one of my kids helps plan the halftime shows for her college marching band and will really miss that.

The sports leagues are in trouble when this is the response on a sports fan forum.

Let's put football aside because they haven't been affected by the pandemic as much as the other sports. But I don't miss the rest of them.

NBA - I was starting to take more of an interest in the C's but that interest has faded away and I don't think it will ever come back.
NHL - The B's looked like they were on a roll and at first I was annoyed by the NHL's proposed playoff format. Now I don't care.
MLB - I stopped watching many years ago but I started to go to some games recently with my son. I won't be returning.
PGA - I've been working on the driving range at the pro tourney in Norton since I retired (has it really been 12 years?!?), and I'm scheduled to work it again in August. I'm leaning toward not going back.

I know the saying is you don't see what you missed until it's gone, but that doesn't apply at all now. I'm finding out instead that I don't miss them.

I would enjoy sports if they returned, but I am not biting my nails because I can't watch them right now.

I was really getting into the Celtics trying to find and watch Celtics TV games in NJ. I care more about their health than seeing a season finish

The Bruins, one of my top favorites, I didn't think they would start because of the different coronavirus rules between USA and Canada. I do miss NHL hockey but I have memories.

The NFL, I was looking forward to viewing the Pats under Stidham. I can wait.

MLB, I care less what happens to baseball.

I would rather watch Trump burn at the stake.

I miss the NHL a bit, but like others, I had an up and down interest in the Cs. I don't miss the NBA too much. I definitely bowed out of baseball years and years ago. I'll miss the NFL a bit if the season doesn't go (which looks 50/50 right now).

One cool thing I might do this fall if there's no football is show my fiance old Pats games. She grew up in a country with no access to American football and is interested. She knows the Pats won Super Bowls, but not how many or much else about them. I thought about showing her some of the best Pats games of the BB era. Maybe even doing things like the Buttfumble game on Thanksgiving and such. It won't be new to me, but it'll be new to her and that could be fun.

I ONLY watch football so this pandemic hasn't affected this yet.

Why post that? What's wrong with you?

Because that's how I feel. Just sharing, you don't have to agree. I could have offered some additional ideas or suggestions regarding him that I would enjoy watching and reading about. If I wasn't so old, I might like to take part in some of those ideas.

Leave the obviously political ******** out of it. That's not difficult to do. If you can't do it, stop posting here, and go find a political forum.

Stop posting? Really?

Have you posted the same instructions to everyone that has posted "political ********," in your opinion, or have you decided to just challenge me?

I've posted about this many times. You were posting about burning a politician at the stake, for crying out loud. That's a far cry from posting about something that's become so universal, and universally mocked, as to be non-political (Thanks, Obama; Trump's fault; The Russians did it; etc...).

Quit being an ass clown about the politics.

I miss the Celtics, Bruins and New England Revs ...
Don't give a shi!t about baseball anymore ... looking forward to training camp.

No politics please ... most members like it that way.

Other than less automobile traffic the next best thing about the virus situation is no annoying MLB.
I WAS thinking about following the Celtics, but then stuff happened

I'll miss NFL (don't think it'll be back this year) but really only caught the other 3 majors flicking around channels.

Here's what I'll miss more... you guys do realize that all staged television, from SNL to your favorite sitcom to movies, require people to be together, indoors, right? I mean, they could do it on soundstages w/no audience, but you're still looking at a nightmare scenario. I think we might be in reruns with no new movies soon. I don't know. We're not talking about it... Imma google that, figure it out.

It might be a whole year of having to talk to our families. ***** that!

I feel most of this. I think it's also been fueled by the circumstances of our current surroundings helping me realize what's really important in life and what makes me happy. Regardless of anyone's position on CoVID or the protests, I think it's fair to say that, in some way, it's probably forced you to find your footing in family (whatever that looks like in your respective case) and the activities that truly make you happy.

I was excited for the NFL storylines this year, but have easily prepped for the season either being weird at best or canceled. NBA would've been pretty interesting, at least the post-season. But I often find myself having a hard time even spending much time thinking about it when so much stuff is going on around us.

That being said, if you truly miss sports as your outlet of decompression, I totally respect that and I hope something goes your way!

For a solid two decades now I've mostly ignored sports after the Super Bowl and then my interest in sports perks right back up right around the start of the NFL Preseason.

Smarter people than I might be able to uncover the source of this phenomenon.
