Would We Sign Drew Brees

His comments were out of line. But he is generally a pretty sharp guy. Well liked.

But...when is the last time this guy flat out had an outstanding playoff game? It feels like forever ago. Brees would've done worse with Brady's weapons. Heck, he played worse than Brady in the postseason (And that's with a stacked team). Patriots need to go all in on Stidham or some other guy.

I don't get how any reasonable person can look at the systematic overreaction of police forces against mostly peaceful protests in the last week and come to the conclusion that things are in a decent place. "Better oversight" is an understatement with such a large gap that I can't even express it.

In many ways the police force and their unions are closer to a Mafia-esque racket than a group that is there to protect its citizens. There is close to zero accountability.

Randomly pepper spraying people at intersections, shoving seniors to the ground without any emotion, teargassing protesters, shooting rubber bullets wildly into crowds, using excessive and deadly force over alleged fake 20$ bills or running a no knock raid and killing completely innocent residents. And then lie to the faces of the media or relatives after the fact. If anything we have seen once again that there is no reason at all to trust a single police officer if he can't back his claims up via their body cam. But unfortunately those are conveniently turned off on a regular basis.

And all of that is nothing new, it is just that now we have cameras on our phones to record most of those transgressions. There are collections of over 300 taped cases all round Twitter or Reddit threads of those ****ers totally snapping.

I am sorry but "better oversight" and "decent police force" doesn't quite cut it.

Or to use your analogy: at this point those alleged few bad apples have produced so much ethylene that most of the lot has been spoiled.

there are still people who beat their kids......and if you can beat your kids, it is easy to assume that beating anyone who gets out of line is the answer

yes and no........I'll give him a pass for being naive enough to think that he can make it just about the flag or the military....I think now he woke the **** up and gets it.....there are lots of eyes being opened up this time around

That Saints team was incredible on paper. It was shocking to watch the Vikings take care of them.

It will be interesting to see who the NFL purge as part of the great 2020 hate cleansing. If Brees isn't the fall guy for the NFL's past anti-kneeling stance, someone else will get fed to the masses to appease them.

Hint - it won't be Antonio Brown this time unless he goes MAGA Kanye.

I don't think this is his first time taking his stance regardling kneeling

They really aren’t on offense. It’s the Thomas and Kamara show. Cook had a strong year though. Defenses made it more difficult in the playoffs for Thomas to beat them and it slowed down their offense yet Brees kept forcing the ball to him. Their offense stalling had Thomas looking confused.

Sanders should help, but I don’t think it’s enough.

Defense has a lot of good players though.

That's a good read. Thanks.

I've always thought our police officers are stuck in the middle of some kind of a policy war. Yes there are a few bad apples and yes we might need better oversight but I think overall we have a decent police force and your article supports that.

I agree with the notion of "systematic oppression". I think the current welfare system has a lot to do with it. I grew up in the military and we all had the same amenities and all performed at an equal level. So how do we get that in the US?
Great question. I was in the military I know what you mean.

You either learn to like change or irrelevancy.

Remember when people would talk down the college game and its influence on the NFL? It's a phase, they said. Mobile QB's would never work, they never win, people still say foolishly.

Well the college game has taken over and very soon all we'll see are mobile QB's winning.

Again learn to like change or evolution or get left behind.

I'm reading these post like I'm in a car looking in my rear view mirror. People are getting left behind and are scared of change.

Change can sometimes be worse. The changes that are occurring in football have made the game worse, not better. And I'm not talking about a change to more mobile QB's.

As for the NCAA, I took them off my dance card a long, long time ago and I haven't missed it one bit. The same goes for MLB.

Which is pretty much what everyone said about any change ever. Unless you think people welcomed e.g. the forward pass with open arms.

Not really sure what you're trying to say here.

Some of the changes have been brutal-the PI flags, favoring offense/QB, indecisiveness in general ... That said the league is thriving. Its king in the US and the despite some of the changes for the bad its still better than in previous eras. That's obviously opinion but again the fact that football, college & pro are king in America will tell you many more share it than not.

Again though you weren't really clear to what changes but the game is as popular as ever. Not just with meatheads & jocks. The nerds have taken over and even though I'm dumb as **** I love more info.

Honestly, I feel bad for those that can't enjoy it and really don't understand the thought process. It's just a sport. How can you get mad at it or w/e? Things change, people change but the game is still played on an incredibly high level on both levels. College & pro. The two are as close as they've ever been and there's a lot to like about it.

I agree. I hate today's NFL compared to the game of the 90s and 00s. Now that Brady has moved on, my watching will go significantly down. I really wasn't watching much other than the Pats the last several years anyway.
