Best Patriots teams to not win a title

I think people forget how good the 2010 version was, which is understandable given the embarrassing playoff performance. But they did go 14-2 against a brutal schedule. In the 2nd half they went 8-0, including beating all 4 of the best teams in the league, 3 of which were blowouts. Sure the team had flaws like any team, but the results speak for itself. That 8 game stretch is right up there with the first 8 games of 07.

i think they just had a bad day vs nyj, maybe got outcoached a bit. But its not like they squeaked by on some weak schedule and lost on the first real challenge, they destroyed most of these teams that stood in their way to a title. I have them at #2 after 07 in the bb era ( wasn’t around for the 70s teams)

2010 >>> 2017

True. The defense though... bend don’t break at its peak. Just like the Colts usually had. Great at turnovers but not so good at anything else. Statistically they had one of the worst pass defenses in the league and allowed more long drives by opponent than all but 2 teams. Thats why I have a hard time ranking them higher on these lists.

statistically may have been one of the worst pass defenses, but then by that view one could say the 2001 patriots had a statistically terrible defense overall too (8th worst in total yards against). Its a deduction for sure i agree but I think the w/l total, schedule difficulty , and blowouts of top teams trumps that.

Terrible list by the Herald.

1. 2007
2.2012
3. 2017
4. 2015
5. 2011

2010 team wasn’t very good. They had limitations at receiver, rookie TE’s, average running game, statistically the worst defense of all time, but happened to strike lightning and go on an unlikely run to the #1 seed.

Did you start watching the Pats in 2001?

Link: Ranking the best Patriots teams that didn't win Super Bowl

Article says (in order) 2007, 2010, 2017, 2011, 1976

I would go in order something like 2007, 1976, 1996, 1985 despite the outcome of XX and then 2010 I guess.

Love the '85 team for multiple reasons, including the fact that my all-time fav Pat Stanley Morgan played on it. I still hate the shot of a soon-to-be-retired Hannah sitting on the bench in the 4th quarter with a bloody bandaid over his eye and a despondent look on his face. I missed the first few minutes on TV because of a youth hockey game but Franklin was just about the put them up 3-0 when we turned the radio on in the car. Little did my dad and I know that the FG would be the highlight of the game for the Pats. :crying:

Also, this was an abomination:

I cringe every time I watch it. So so bad.

No, mid 90’s.

Why are you so offended by my list?

And your smart a** question would have made more sense if you were to ask me if I started watching in 2007.
