Would We Sign Drew Brees

I've heard some buzz around the NFL forums about Drew Brees being a potential acquisition for various teams if cut. While I dislike Brees for some of his racial and homophobic beliefs (later walked back, either genuinely or not - the offtopic is for that discussion), the question becomes whether the Patriots should consider signing him if he's cut.

Could we make the cap space? What would the reaction be and would it be worth it? Did Ray Lewis kill a guy?

That would do wonders for reinforcing Boston and being very 'on brand' to the national perception

1. The Saints would be insane to cut Brees
2. The Patriots would be insane not to go after Brees
3. If you're looking at any player's general politics and/or thoughts as a guide to signing them, you're insane

The saints just gave Brees 23 mil in guaranteed money. Imo this is Brees last year but I don’t see him getting cut with the money involved.

With the Brees fallout maybe the NFL will say squirrel and release the Spygate 2.0 decision on the Patriots tomorrow.

Disliking Brees is just ridiculous. Holy shyt.

Even if he gets cut, he has said he will not play for any other team. It was Saints or retirement this year if they had not given him a new contract. He will not want to move his family for just one year of football. He is not wired like Brady.

Not because of his first ammendment rights.

He is old. Furthermore, Brees would go from the best in Mike Thomas and Alvan Kamara to Harry and Sony.
